A quarrel among oil-rig workers after a drinking session ashore in Songkhla on Monday night ended in gunfire, with one man dead and another wounded.

Pol Captain Monchai Thanakojarn and his team were called to Sirichon Pier in Muang Songkhla at 10.30pm.

They were told that Thanwa Chamnan, 35, had admonished co-worker Yingyong Hemhongsa, 25, for driving recklessly when they reached the pier in his pickup truck after a drinking party.

Yingyong allegedly responded by firing five rounds from a 9mm pistol, wounding both Thanwa and, inadvertently, another rig worker identified only as Natthawuth.

Both victims were taken to Songkhla Hospital, where Thanwa died at 1.15am Tuesday.

Police collected a CCTV recording of the incident and two eyewitnesses to apply for an arrest warrant for Yingyong.

SO!...What's a gun doing on the premises? or was it in the Car Park outside. Either way, pretty bad behaviour down that end of town still, HUH?

If you read the report you will see that they had arrived at the pier when the driver shot the other two, so I would say that he had the gun in his pick up
