Valjean
I have a friend visiting in March. Will have a few days in Bangkok with his family. The kids are age 4 & 6. What are some recommended things to do? Are there any hotels that are especially good for kids? thanks

Are there any hotels that are especially good for kids? thanks the Rembrandt is child friendly with a nice swimming pool, although a bit pricey...got a good pizza restaurant as well, good for the kids...gotta remember that March is hot in Thailand and small kids cannot be in the heat for very long. Beware the Grand Palace or other sites where kids haveta be out in the sun for long periods...you'll end up with a lot of sick puppies and the holiday will be ruined... gpt
Try the Children's Discovery Museum http://www.thailandguidebook.com/childrensmuseum.html They may be too young for the Planetarium http://www.sci-educ.nfe.go.th/Sci-Web/englishP.html Other suggestions - crocodile farm and elephant show, snake farm and don't forget the sky train but not in the rush hour! leisurely
Also, due to the weather, you could consider the indoor play areas. Seri and Seacon are our two local ones. Seacon YOYO land is very noisy, but reasonable value if you choose your rides carefully. Seri is very good too, if a little grubby. The swimming pool on top of central bangna is also a winner, food available too.
ding
Dusit zoo is great with kids. The lizards in the water while paddling a rental boat is a kick. Lots of arcades. Also the movies are much cheaper than in the west and the theater we went to was great (cool too).

leisurely
Just remembered, there is a book by Nacny Chandler something like - what shall we do with the kids today? It has a ring through the pages around fifty, that could be useful. It is available from Asia books for around baht. It is pocket sized and colourful
