Forensic tests show ‘ex-cop was lottery winner’

The Central Institute of Forensic Science (CIFS) on Friday announced its findings in a much-publicised dispute which showed a retired policeman was the owner of lottery tickets worth about Bt30 million, not a teacher who claimed he was the legitimate owner.

Institute director Somn Promaros told a press briefing that his office based its decision on the partial fingerprints found on the disputed lottery tickets.

“We have partial fingerprints of Charoon Wimul on the tickets that police sent to us to examine. We could not test the DNA on them because there was too many DNA on the tickets,” the director said.

The conflict over ownership of the winning tickets grabbed media headlines and drew public attention throughout the country after Preecha Kraikruan came forward to claim that he had bought the winning tickets from a vendor but they were stolen. Meanwhile, Charoon had already cashed the money in November.

well that clears that up...........right ?    :post-4641-1156694572:

Partial is never good enough unless 7 points are the same on a full print,

If I truly bought the tickets I would appeal.

Now there's a lesson, always trust a policeman.

I just read about a 20 year old in Florida who won 400 million+ dollars on the lottery.

Did this guy buy and have that ticket stolen as well?

Yes, though technically the prints came from the crime scene reenactment, which they carried out several times just to be sure.

Wasn't there a report that the policeman offered to split the winnings with the teacher but the teacher said no?? Seems pretty fishy.

Presumably the alleged theft victim's prints were NOT found on the tickets.
Quite a lot of tendency to always portray police as dishonest and corrupt on here.
Maybe sometimes  that is not the case, eh?

we all should get a medal for guessing who the winner was

Ye. The 400mil would have been paid to him over a number of years but he chose to take the offered winnings now which were a fraction of the 400mil.

Normally Thai remember the two last digits they buy.

I was surprised that this man remembered and picked six numbers.
