You’ll see a well to do foreigner in Thailand who spent forty years building a career and making enough good decisions to finally retire comfortably. Then six months after meeting a "local" girl on his first trip to Siam, he’s taking life advice from someone whose biggest qualification is knowing how to keep him permanently off balance.

How the hell does that happen?

Most of these blokes aren’t stupid. Yet somehow they end up following her around like a buffalo that wandered off into the wrong rice field and now can’t find its way back out.

The education gap alone should make the whole thing impossible. One person has decades of life experience and a career behind him. The other often barely scraped through primary school, if even any schooling at all. Yet somehow she’s the strategic mastermind of the pair now and he’s standing there with his ATM card in hand, waiting for instructions.

I can’t make the maths work.

Maybe it’s because he’s convinced himself he’s just pulled off the greatest caper in history. A woman half his age who wouldn’t have looked twice at him twenty years earlier, or ever for that matter. Once he buys into that fantasy, everything else comes with it. The drama. The sulking. The emotional blackmail. The endless little loyalty tests.

Some of these women seem professionally offended. Every day there’s a fresh crisis. Every conversation starts with a sigh and ends with him apologising for something he didn’t even know he’d done.

I’d last about six seconds around one of these birds.

Then I look at these couples and think, what exactly are these guys seeing? Half the women of this ilk are covered in tattoos, appear permanently angry, and loud enough that I’d be asking the airline for a different seat if one of them sat next to me.

Meanwhile, the bloke is walking around like he won first prize in the lottery.

I suppose that’s what puzzles me most. It isn’t the age gap. It isn’t even the money.

It’s watching a dude who came to Thailand looking for freedom end up asking for permission to spend his own money, where he's allowed to go, what he's allowed to eat, and who he's allowed to talk with.

That’s the bit I just can’t make sense of.

You haven't figured out the power dynamic. In a relationship there is always one desired, one adored, and one who does the desiring and adoring. It's never the case that both parties are equally attractive, and adore each other equally. There is always an imbalance. In that the more attractive one, the adored, has the power. The man you describe may see it as a small price to pay 5000 baht for a hair salon trip, if he can continue to live out his fantasy of love, which he can only do with his adored woman. And of course what BritManToo said, if they can bring it in bed, that only adds to their power, which is already sky high as they're way more attractive, way higher in sexual market value.

Thai women certainly have no problem to start hitting you. My Thai gf routinely attacks me, and each time, I punch her back twice as hard. She does it playfully, but it's good they feel the consequences if they do that. Or it may end badly. Sean Connery knew what he was talking about.

Thank gawd, mates, finally a proper wind-up, instead of RockyRubbish cloggin' up the gaff again with yet another of his boring yarns, complete with more snaps of his LB concubine sat there with some uninteresting Thai food: pics no one wants, no one asked for, and frankly, couldn’t give a toss about.

As for the OP, a welcome tug on the short and curlies is often the key to unlocking the ATM pin.

What else is new, poor desperate woman have been preying on dumb foolish desperate men for eons even where you’re from, the only difference here is that it’s out in the open easy access to an abundance of shameless poor women.

Wise words

i knew a norwegian Doctor, he came borrowing 100 baht once in a while to eat rice, upon further investigation it turns out he was making well over 100k a month in pension, yet lived in a 5000 baht bungalow and was hungry, his wife had taken posession of his debit card and would divorce sooner than handing it back.

i suggested it would be the best thing that could ever happen, but he didnt want to be alone

Friends and i used to call it the "power of the p"....p of course being pussy. It is not a new thing and it is not just thai girls that have it and know how to use it to get most whatever their little hearts desire. Been that way for centuries and while some men avoid it as they are gay most straight guys are easy marks for a hot young gal especially if they are twice her age.

As ole PT Barnum said "there's a sucker born every minute"....not sure if he meant a girl sucker as in sucking off or a guy sucker as in being sucked dry of $$ and bodily fluid. Either way probably still true.

If you can deal with the drama and if you can afford it go for it. If not run forest run.

Anyone who writes that giving away 10% of his wealth is a reasonable compromise for getting a little bit of regular camel toe is a complete fool.

Because once you give her 10%, she doesn’t suddenly think, “Well, that’s enough then.” She knows there’s another 20% sitting there. Maybe 30%. And she’ll eventually want to know why she’s not getting her share of that too.

They’re very good at smelling weakness.

That doesn’t mean every dude who comes to Thailand falls into the trap. Plenty of men do perfectly well with women without giving up a pound of flesh, and without turning their entire financial situation into a relationship negotiation.

There’s an old and still accurate saying: treat them mean, keep them keen.

Maybe it’s an old saying because it works.

I have never seen this scenario happen a single time. Literally never, and I spent years in Pattaya and Phuket. It's an urban myth, probably propagated by the less than intelligent specimens who fell for a scheming bar girl.

How about some creativity in your personal attacks so they're at least entertaining to remove? Maybe some AI would help.

If a person is content with their life, they won't care about your opinion.

Or maybe you're trying to sweep things under the carpet.

At least 50% of guys (maybe closer to 95%) in Pattaya will end up dating bar girls.

And maybe 50% of those bar girls are scheming. To be fair to bar girls, some of them are nice women.

At least 50% of men are desperate and vulnerable, especially when a much younger hot girl gives them any attention.

Your numbers ie "never seen it happen", having lived in Pattaya, do not add up.

The AI-written OP claims that there is an inherent characteristic in simple, undeducated bar girls which allows them to fleece and play smart, successful Western men. Never seen it happen, not once. It happens all the time with men of average (or lesser) intelligence and means.

What I have seen countless times, on the other hand, is smart Western men playing and taking advantage of simple Thai women.

I do know one ruthless Thai woman who fleeces wealthy farangs. No "sick buffalos" involved, it's high-level scheming and manipulation. She ticks the boxes this category of farang (smart but doesn't know squat about Thai culture) looks for: no tattoos, soft-spoken, educated, "has a business"… My God is she a ruthless b*tch. Plays the long game. Her cold intelligence is something to behold. The guys, once they realise they have been had, are too ashamed to admit it, cut their losses and disappear (she knows that, it's part of the plan).

Yeah, deliberately targets guys with no tattoos.

That's funny.

I don't even want to know what the scam is.

All the women haters lol ... Never marry....they are all money grubbing w hores !!🤣

These are all men that never learned to manage women in general and specifically relationships.

Having said that every farang purchased a home that I know of has lost that home. Getting serious with a pub girl, internet floozy just asking for trouble. Those women are for fun. Act accordingly.

She sounds like fun.

When she is mid 20s+ and has no legit 9-5 job. Run. When she works at night...run.

When a gf becomes expensive, especially when she asks for money - time to move on.

That should be one of the litmus tests in relationship.. telling her you'll cover all the expenses, she's free to say what she can but don't ask for large gifts of money or loans.

Take relationships in stages. No one should marry before two year mark certain. No one over 55 should marry especially not in peak health.

Allow her to save all her own money from her job. You cover expenses, but you need not give her money atop ffs.

Never take a woman away from a job they are very difficult to come by -especially a good one and double especially a well-paying one. If you leave the relationship she made a very big sacrifice for you and for nothing

If you are Mr lonely guy that has moved here and doesn't know what to do with themselves and needs the female companionship and girlfriend effect/pal and you do the stupid thing and take her from her job.. it's probably not a very good one if she's willing to quit but aside from that and this is controversial

It is perfectly acceptable and you really should pay her some sort of monthly salary. Best you find out what she was making before she left the job. As a base in Bangkok I would say 20k for gf. She should be accompanying you for everything, doing the shopping, cleaning, treating you well all the time and seeing all your needs are met.

Many foreigners especially when they arrive eyes wide open and dicks in their hands. They themselves cannot make reasonable decisions for the first year or two and sometimes longer

Bloody hell, you've got her all worked out, ain't ya?

No tattoos, soft spoken, educated, runs a business, plays the long game, knows exactly how wealthy farangs think, knows they'll be too embarrassed to admit they've been stitched up, and apparently has the cold intelligence of a serial killer.

Do you actually know this minger, mate, or have you been sat there wordsmithing the story?

You make her sound like Thailand's answer to Hannibal Lecter. And naturally, you're the one and only geezer who's sussed the whole game out?

Sorry, but I'm calling cobblers on this one. Either you've got an extraordinary amount of inside information about a supposedly secretive con woman, and no obvious reason why you would, or you've got quite the imagination and have added a fair few porkies to the story.

I'm guessing the latter.
