A motorcyclist snatched a gold necklace worth Bt200,000 from a Chinese tourist in Pattaya in the early hours of Monday.

The robbery happened at 2.30am in front of the Roi Lung housing estate in Sai Thai Udom Road in Moo 5 village, Tambon Na Klua, Bang Lamung district.

The tourist, Jin Shuai, 33, said he was buying food from a roadside vendor when the motorcyclist snatched his necklace weighing about 9 baht or 136.44 grams.

The motorcyclist was wearing a full-size crash helmet so his face could not be seen.

Police are checking footage from security cameras to hunt for clues.

It takes a special kind of stupid to walk around with a 9 baht necklace at 230am.

No matter how rich you are here you MUST look poor at all times!

Another week and another story of a "tourist" out late at night with gold on display....do these people never learn anything about Pattaya before arriving......:whistling:

Well put up some notices in all hotel rooms warning of the local bloody thieves and then the tourist will know what a cesspit it is, but cannot do that as it will give a bad name to the country which if only they crossed a border they would find out it has already got.

Tourists do not learn about the place because the theft/rippoff/scam side it is not promoted enough, if it was they would not come.

Police are checking CCTV cameras for one that works.  Here's a revolutionary idea: why not get police to work nights; call it a shift situation.

How about a sting operation.   Under cover cops as tourists with fake cold necklace.

555 cant expect them to be 'sticking their neck out'  for the sake of lowly tourists
