January 19, 200719 yr Since this morning my gmail notifier icon in my task bar has an exclamation mark through it , and carries the message: "Cannot read your messages (bad data 6;)" I have been using the notifier for months wiothout any problems but can't seem to fix this one. I have tried re-booting, re-installing, clearing the cache (as advised by the Google Help) but nothing works. I can access my inbox by R. clicking on the icon and clicking 'view inbox' but I don't receive any notification of new emails. Any ideas anyone? Thanks.
January 20, 200719 yr Ive had the same problem for a few day’s and searched the Gmail forums and it seem’s a lot of people are having the same problem world wide at the moment, so it looks as if it’s a problem at Gmail’s end and we just have to wait for Gmail to fix it The same problem has happened in the past, and it took them some time to fix the problem My notifier also keeps showing …. Cannot read your messages Bad Data 6 This was one answer from the Gmail forum, but it did not work for me… try resetting your password and after you re-start gmail notifier, re-enter new password when the connect to google dialog box pops up asking for login and password. sometimes gmail loses password and may cause a disconnect. this is after you clear cache, temp files and cookies in IE. (no need to keep uninstalling and reinstalling gmail notifier)
January 20, 200719 yr Author Thanks Mumbo Jumbo, As no one responded I didn't bother to report that last night I sent a message to Gmail about the problem, and when I logged in this morning the problem was gone. So as you say, it must have been at their end, so I assume they fixed it. If you're still having the problem, maybe you could try sending them a help query. Anyway, thanks for the advice and info Mobi
