India, the world’s second most populous nation, agreed to provide a $20 million concessional loan for the construction of electricity transmission lines in Cambodia after Prime Minister Hun Sen’s official four-day visit to India. According to a joint statement, “The two governments agreed to sign a $20 million loan agreement for the construction of a transmission line in Cambodia in the near future.

“The Indian Prime Minister expressed India’s commitment to continue the development partnership in the priority sector of the Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia. In this case, India will increase the number of annual fast-track projects in Cambodia from 5 to 10 projects,” it said. A total of 1.9 million households were also connected, or 58 percent, according to the Ministry of Energy. Cambodia generates 200MW of its energy though oil-powered electricity plants, 500MW through coal-fired plants and 928MW through hydropower plants.

In 2016, the UK managed to give India 13 Billion pounds sterling. This, despite the hardships that many Brits suffer - both at home and abroad.

India has just given a 20 million dollar loan to Cambodia.
