Hello. Does anyone know if i need to get a Thai passport now to take my 5 year old daughter to Laos for a few days? 

She can get a border pass for Laos that will allow a stay of 3 days. You will need her birth certificate and a copy of her house book registry to apply for it.

Of course, the border pass can only be used if entering by land, and only in the immediate vicinity of where you are entering. I would suggest getting the passport. Thai passports are cheap and quick to get. If not traveling with the child's mother as well as the child, watch out for possible controls on taking the child out of the country.
