Blocked drains cause flooding in Nongprue

PATTAYA:--Scattered rainstorms that bypassed much of Pattaya created flooding in Nongprue.

The sub-district’s Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department was forced to deploy pumps on Soi Chaiyapornwitee Jan. 26.

Department chief Banjong Khumbunka had staffers place pumps around local houses, which suffered water damage in the downpour.

It took about an hour to clear the water.

He said the flooding was caused by blocked drains in the area and that the sub-district would send workers to clear them.

Recipe for dealing with disasters in Thailand: wait for it to happen; then deal with it.

Correction: ... wait for it to happen then TALK ABOUT DEALING with it.

Sorry mate, but if I hadn't corrected you, you could be accused of damaging Thailand's image.

I watch daily as vendors pour the days grease and plastic down the ''magical hole"(the hole where things disappear),i see a construction site up my soi send all its silty sand down soi1 into the ''magical hole''..i watch the security guard across my soi too lazy to lean down and p/u plastic bags,so he uses his finger to push them down the drain ''magic hole''i read today about the illegal dumps and wrong way drivers ..when will these children realize ''someone must clean up the mess they leave behind'' carnage and litter don't just disappear.

Surprised they actually admitted the flooding was caused by blocked drains.......normally they just blame excessive rainfall!!
