Thailand a "laughing stock" as European doctors slam penis whitening at Bangkok hospital

Doctors at a surgeon's conference held in Paris on Sunday warned men not to have their penises whitened in Thailand.

 

This comes despite the fact that the Tourism Authority of Thailand promotes the hospital where the procedure is done in the Bangkok area.

 

Lelux hospital administrator Bantit Watanasiri told the "International Master Course on Aging Science" in the French capital that three or four patients a day were coming to her facility for the treatment.

 

She said it costs 520 Euros or 20,500 baht for five whitening treatments.

 

"We have about 100 customers a month," she said.

 

But experts in Paris slammed the Thais in what Thai Rath said was making the country a laughing stock in the international cosmetic surgery community.

 

Dr Fabian Bouchet cautioned: "Really - you should not do that".

 

While Italian Dr Maximilliano Brambilla said the chemicals used could cause severe adverse reactions and should only be used as a last resort in cosmetic procedure.

 

Thai public health authorities have already warned the public not to have the treatment done at the Nonthaburi hospital.

 

Experts said either laser or chemical treatment could leave Thai todgers being even blacker than before.

 

An internet search by Thaivisa shows that the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) still recommends the Lelux hospital as an excellent facility for cosmetic surgery in Thailand.

You know, it's just something you'd think no one needs warning about not doing.

 

It is the purpose and reason for being of the TAT to make professional medical recommendations?

 

Is the TAT actually capable of making professional medical recommendations?

 

I think not.

just leave it the color it is ... it's ok.

They should be offering to do the whole body, because you would have to be a COMPLETE dick, to do something so dumb.

This whitening , is it just the meat or does it include the 2 veg. If not it would be liking wearing mismatched socks

Again, the insane vanity of some Thais.....and of course it does make them a bit of a laughing stock!

Just as insane as the whites who go to tanning saloons to darken themselves....

This is the least thing that is making Thailand a world laughing stock with this government.

I wonder if the same doctors laugh when a European wants to artificially 'tan' their skin?  Or how about whitening their teeth?  It's all the same concept.

They're all jealous of not being able to have white penises like local lads here, who wouldn't

want a white penis Huh? it can be use a white flag every time you have an argument

with the missus...

I'm just wondering where is the 'worried-about-foreigners'-perception-of-Thailand' brigade, and what is their take on this.

That gives the term 'whitewash' a completely new meaning. One may hope they only got their hands in everything weird enough to promote.

If the Thai Public Health Authorities have advised not to have this done, why doesn't the Gov't just ban the procedure??

When I sent them the DVD showing 'Moby Dick' I was not aware of the possible outcome
