Books, videos, and other media on dog training

Featured Replies

I'll just start of by stating that I will not use the services of a dog trainer in Thailand.  Ever.

Now we're over that.  Our bitch has had a litter of puppies, some of which we are going to keep.  However, it's like, well, herding cats, or puppies.

I'm looking for peoples suggestions who have had success using books or videos for dog training.  My objectives at this point are pretty simple:  basic commands including sit, stay, come, but in such a way that we can control each puppy by name.  And leash training.
I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!

I have never come across a book that covers the issue you have.

You will have to seperate the dogs, you can not train a pack at once.

What do you mean by leash training?

Basic commands are very easy to teach to a puppy. It will take a lot of repetitions to make a dog reliable.

Having 5 dogs sit in a row and then call just one over will be considered advanced training and that does take a lot more work.

It is possible and will take a lot of effort but in the end will be worth it.

I know a dog is a dog but what breed are we talking about?
