Good morning! Can anyone please, tell me about wp cancellation process? I'll have a termination letter from employer with last day of my work 19 of Feb. However, I 'll not be here at this date, because I'm going to get tourist visa in Laos, and van goes on Sunday, 18th. The question is : can I cancel my wp in advance, on Friday? Will I need to return to the ministry of Labor to collect anything? Just don't know how the process goes. Thank you

You or your employer can cancel the work permit prior to your termination date by submitting a work permit cancelation form.

Thank you so much! So, and where does the blue book go after? I don't have to come back there to collect papers (if any )? I'll definitely do it by myself since my employer seems very unwilling doing anything for that and moreover, they are trying to find an excuse to not giving me that letter...and, my nonb visa will be cancelled as well. So, I won't have an overstay, if immigration office will cancel my visa by 19th and I'll leave a country the same day(early  in the morning)

Also, could you send me actual link to the law, which states that I can do it by myself, because my stubborn employer doesn't want to give me a letter and says that it's illegal doing it by myself...I shown him the cancellation forms from site, he said it's wrong.

It is all done in one visit to the local work permit office. Some offices will cancel the work permit and give it back to you while others will keep it.

You can just leave the country if you have a termination letter or go to immigration a few days before the date of termination and they will post date the cancellation to that date.

You don't have to cancel the work permit before leaving the country unless you plan getting another work permit.

The work permit cancellation rules are in a ministerial order that is not posted anywhere in a public domain that I am aware of.
