Everest 3.2Ltr Rear Engine Oil Seal

JAS21

Recommended Posts

We have MY15 ... the seal has gone again ... now have done 25K Kms  ... previously replaced at about 15K Kms. Apparently only a small proportion of 3.2Ltr engines have this fault ... also applies to BT50. Confirmed today that at the first change the revised torque settings were used.

Am told that Ford don't fit Grade 'A' seals and the dealer is not allowed to ... must use the Ford Part. It is a seven hour job to change and a special Ford Tool is required apparently.

Anyone else has this seal fail? ... you will know if yours has failed by looking on your drive or looking/feeling in the area below the seal ... fortunate to have the extra two years warranty and even more fortunate to not live in Phuket. Think that I will contact Ford Customer Service but guess am wasting my time.

Don't think, do it and show it all over Media outlets.

NanLaew has just told me that someone in Australia has possibly found a fix ... hope to get the info

'Lessons in Life' have taught me to 'don't burn your bridges' ... well not initially anyway ... and our Ford dealership is one of the best IF not the best and it has an english speaking Product Specialist ....... but thanks for the suggestion .......

You have been lucky I have never got more that 15 months on any of my Toyo batteries and that's on 3 new lumps. New Toyo is now coming up to 11 months old, so expecting a dud one any time soon. And yes I do lift the hood.

Two Fortuners one Vigo. All batteries went their way rapidly after the first year. Will post when this one goes T/Ts up. Am surprised that this one has lasted so long as the Lump is auto electric everything. So battery gets a real bashing.

Lifting the bonnet is even more effective apparently.

Seriously, though, can that really have any beneficial effect when at that stage the engine is cooling down as it's turned off and the heat in that area is dissipating.  99% of the time the battery is cooking under the closed bonnet and they are obviously designed to be able to cope with the heat there.   Do you lift the bonnet when you're stuck in traffic?

When the engine is running the fan is shifting hot air. When the car is in motion air is shifted out of the engine bay...When you park up the under hood temp increases before it cools down...

This is really easy stuff to understand chap...

I was asking a serious question, no need to be condescending.

How long is the temperature rising for...long enough for opening the bonnet to have any significant effect on the longevity of the battery?  If that was really the case wouldn't car and battery manufacturers suggest that everyone does that when parking their car?

Manufacturers don't give a toss about battery longevity, they care about speed of factory assembly and costs, that's why the battery is usually under the hood..Telling granny to lift the hood on parking isn't really a good selling point, is it chap...

I post here my test findings for others to read, as it seems you have never tried my test I don't see as you can comment..

Now as you regard yourself as an expert on heat stuff, tell me, does a turbo inter-cooler work if a ride is stationary...?

I mean comments like " This is really easy stuff to understand chap... ",  " Telling granny to lift the hood on parking isn't really a good selling point, is it chap... " and "Now as you regard yourself as an expert on heat stuff, tell me, does a turbo inter-cooler work if a ride is stationary...?" can be seen as and are also IMO condescending.

I agree, it is a harsh comment, Transam is very knowledgeable and tries very hard to share his knowledge with others. But some members don't have a clue, but for some reason feels its ok to offer advice when they haven't a clue and as my dear old granny used to say 'some people on here would make a parson swear.

Wow ... talk about hitting the nail on the head ...

I would have liked to have seen him offered a 'mods' job but guess he upset too many ducks in the past ...
