Gen Prawit asks NACC for one more week to clarify about his wristwatches

By Thai PBS

Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon has asked for another week to clarify to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) about the sources of his expensive wristwatches and a diamond ring.

NACC secretary-general Worawit Sukboon said Tuesday (Feb 13) that Gen Prawit was due to submit his written explanation to the NACC on Feb 8, but the latter claimed he had some business to attend abroad and asked for another week to submit the clarification, or by Feb 15.

He said it was not certain for the time being whether more witnesses would be questioned as the anti-graft agency needs to consider written clarification from the deputy prime minister first.

He really should grow a conscience and resign, unfortunately we are way past that point due to the "face" thing :)

Well, I hope someone out there has some more photos up their sleeve. Saying that, does it really matter? He is clearly above the law and reproach.

Two months later and he still hasn’t clearly explained something he said was “easy to explain”. Proving his innocence should have always been his first priority. If really innocent, prove it and then resign for being so crass.

He has a problem he could only find 24 friends leaving him a watch short of a Mickey Mouse explanation .

Surely he has hired someone with a more fertile imagination by now?

It looks like he is getting his ducks in a row.  He needs time to get a bullet proof explanation together.   Thievery has been tolerated by officialdom in Thailand for a very long time.  To none Thais, it is difficult to stomach.

Micky Mouse did not have a timepiece like those little little p had as he could tell the time off his phone

One more week to let other high profile cases steal the headline.

Doesn't matter this is the one everyone is really interested in, dragging it out is only making it worse

.

its all a carefully choreographed dance co-featuring the NCPO and the 'independent' NACC.

He should get Seinfeld or Monty Python to write the excuse, we're gonna get some laughs so they may as well be good ones.

The truth needs no deadline extension after deadline extension, Mr. Prawit. You could have answered within one week after the issue came to light. Why this foot-dragging? It makes you look guilty as sin. Which you are.

Just exactly how many dead people in Thailand have luxury watches to "lend"?

I had no idea it was such a phenomenon.

I guess he is still trying to find those mysterious friends that he said lent him the watches in the first place. You see he clearly has no real friends here! Takes time to make real friends doesn't it?

Prawits calender has 365 days to a week.

He ain't coming back. ... Doing' a 'Shinawatra' imo...

Maybe a new explanation:

He did buy the watches and diamond ring but with a loan from former national police chief Pol Gen Somyot Poompanmoung.

One week, one month, one year...what the heck. This guy couldn't tell the time if he had the 'talking clock' permanently fitted. He'll get away with it and he knows it!

Setting a great example to Thai society; he should have all his assets closely scrutinized and confiscated where appropriate; but no...... Prayut hasn’t got the balls for that.

I look forward to the day when they recognise bullshit for what it is but I don't hold out much hope they will ever get there!
