February 14, 20188 yr I quit my job in December and left the country. My Visa expired on January 8th. I am now back in the country briefly on a visa exempt entry. I have had a devil of a time figuring out what I am suppose to do to make sure everything is cancelled that is suppose to be cancelled. Somebody told me that I need to get a letter from my former employer and bring it to immigration. This seems ridiculous as the Visa has been cancelled by my departure and is ALSO now expired. Is this necessary??? Do I need to do anything formal at the Labour Department? The HR person where I used to work is completely incompetent, so please do not tell me to talk to her about it! She has no idea. Thanks in advance!
February 14, 20188 yr Unless you plan on working again there is nothing you need to do. The only reason to do anything at immigration would be if you were apply for another extension based upon working and the office wanted your previous extension formally canceled. The work permit cancellation at the Labor Ministry should of already been done. If you applied for another one you could be fined 500 baht for it not being canceled.
February 14, 20188 yr Author So you don't think it would be a problem if I applied for an extension based on retirement in the future?

I've done it a couple of times without a letter of resignation and the rest of the crap. Actually, I came back and opened a new bank account with my old work permit. That was last year, this is now - who knows.
