The junta has filed police complaints against 50 people for taking part in an allegedly illegal demonstration near Democracy Monument last Saturday.

The accused include seven leaders of the demonstration, who had accused the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) of attempting to stay in power by postponing the next election.

Colonel Burin Thongprapai, an NCPO official, filed a complaint at Bangkok’s Nang Loeng Police Station against six leaders on Tuesday, and another against the seventh leader and 43 other protesters on Wednesday, a source said on Thursday.

The seven accused leaders were identified as Rangsiman Rome, Sirawit Serithiwat, Kant Pongprapan, Anon Nampa, Nutta Mahattana, Sakrit Piansuwan and Chonthicha Jangrew.

They were accused of leading a demonstration that violated a junta ban on political gatherings and instigating disturbances.

The 43 other protesters were accused of violating the junta ban against political gatherings of five people or more.

Most of them were accused of having links to the red-shirt United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD), according to the source, who added that they had been monitored by authorities.

And with the Shins becoming mammoths in the room the ptb must be having sleepless nights.

Every now and then since 2014, there has been a window of opportunity to fix this abomination of chains.

There's a window here now.

Don't drop the ball this time.

No one else has an issue, except the NCPO.

Interpret that as you wish.

Big brother does not want to be criticized . They want to be above the law , untouchable ...

This shows the way of "going forward to democracy" of this junta leaded government!

And for me it's always like that: for more they use the "new laws to protect their power" for more there is a shithole that has to be protected as it's just to stay in power and ruin more and more this country and their people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OHHHH forget, thats the road map of Prayut!

It will get real interesting when the conscribed and voluntarily signed up service men of all ranks have had enough of their fat heads. Truth of the matter is there are a lot of red shirts in the military and the straws maybe getting heavy on the camels back.

Pathetic!!!!

Was anyone attacked? Was property destroyed? Were firearms used?

Oh! I forget that individuals are not permitted to have an opinion.

Hang them all!!

Is it possible the junta chief was lying a little bit in his recent speech about Human Rights? I feel I need to consult our expert Steven 100 for clarity. :cheesy:

agreed; hard to come to any other conclusion than they simply do not know what they are doing;

they Can think in only one way, that of military generals

Democracy Monument commemorates the 1932 Siamese coup d'etat.

What was the relevancy to "democracy?" Here we are today with the nineteenth coup d'etat now in power for more than three years and counting. Maybe the monument celebrated military freedom but Thai civilians seem to have been largely neglected - except as easy targets for the military.

Should have been called the Coup d'etat Monument.

Yes!

Time to get out your whistles and demand reform before elections...oh...wait....

Oh the irony,  being arrested for demonstrating for a return to democracy at the Democracy Monument.

Think it is more profoundly ignorant than that.  They ignore common sense or they talk far too much to the point where they contradict themselves.  It is an ignorance that does not learn from intellectual teachings from China or the west.  It is an ignorance bordering on a mild insanity.

It was only the start of the week that p was calling for greater respect for human rights, now a few days later he is harassing peaceful protesters.  Is his word worth a flick of a finger?

They are untouchable!!!Do you think any of those generals will end up in prison for treason or other criminal activities?

Besides that they gave them self immunity,I think that was the first new law after they toppled the legit government.

Amnesty was granted in Article 48 of the 2014 Interim Charter (aka Provisional Constitution) published by the NCPO after its coup. Article 44 gave the NCPO absolute power. No law or NCPO Order per se was necessary.
