My friend has been living with his Thai girlfriend for ten years and has just got through his private pension. he is wanting to get married so that if anything happens to him his wife will carry on getting some pension.

He doesn't want the bother of trying to sort out all the paperwork himself, so can anyone recommend someone who provides a service to take them to the British embassy in Bangkok and sort out all the paperwork for them.

Any ideas on price

First he should make very sure his pension will allow a new wife as beneficiary.

If that is a go and he does not feel up to visiting Embassy he should be able to find a number of translation/marriage shop-houses across the street and in various sois. He will have to do the paper for Embassy that is then translated and registered at Ministry of Foreign Affairs - once that is done it is a simple visit to a district office to register (20 minutes perhaps). So if you do yourself it may cost 5,000 baht (that is a wild guess but it will not be very much). So don't agree to some 40k marriage plan if something like that is offered.
