Savanakhet fly in fly out for visa

Featured Replies

Has anyone flown into Savanakhet instead of doing the fly drive option with airasia or nok air?

They only fly every other day and was looking at arriving on a Monday and flying out on a Wednesday on the 15:50 flight leaving ZVK.  Assuming passport gets collected by no later than 14:30, will there be enough time to catch the flight?  I can't imagine the small airport and small plane would take to long for immigration.

When did you last check their flight schedule.

I got this a few minutes ago. It does not show a afternoon flight other than via Vientiane.

Google flights, but as you say, no direct flights.

Did this trip by air 4 years ago. Easy and relaxed. Airport is very small. You don't need more then 5-10 minutes for check in and immigration. They also fly only with small planes so not many passengers.

BTW flights with Laos Air were not cheap and a flight to ICN from HKT isn't more expensive. Savanna was super boring. I got the feeling if i would stay there more then this 3 days i would hang myself lol.

I think you could make the 15:00 flight via VTE, but it would be a bit of a nail biter.

Why the stress? Relax.

Over to Mukdahan Indochina Market.

AirAsia transfer bus to Nakhon Phanom (KOP) departs 17:30h.

About 100 km.

Flight KOP to DMK at 20:10h.

Online booking via AirAsia website.

Or use Nok Air's fly ride service via Ubon Ratchaithani, Sakon Nakhon or Nakhon Phanom.

Whenever I've checked the direct flights BKK - ZVK it's been sold out months in advance. Looks like they only operate it with a 9 seat aircraft, so not a lot of capacity.

When I checked the other day they showed seats available.

The are flying a ATR 72 that has a seating capacity of 72 to 78 passengers.

The  ATR 72-600 Lao airlines uses on this route is a pretty small, not very comfortable aircraft, but certainly not a 9-seater. I took it once when (and this is rare) Lao Airlines was offering promotional fares.  It carries about 70 passengers, but has little space for cabin baggage.

I would prefer not to be in the back of a van on upcountry Thai roads if there is an alternative.

I guess you should find someplace down country to get your visa.

Very hard to travel to many places in the country without having to use some form of land transport.
