Thai Business Visa for an Indian Couple

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I am new into this forum, I want to know the easiest way to enter kingdom with business visa for me and my wife. We are into our late 20's. I heared setting up a company there will get me a 1 year visa. Will i need two companies for us seperately as we both need work permit also in order to learn more about Thailand working culture, And my wife will also learn Thai language from a good institute as she quite like learning new languages currently she is learning french and already completed her B1 level. Please suggest easy and cheapest way for us to start a new life in Kingdom.

Thanks in Advance

Kunal

I am not an expert but i have seen there is a " One Stop Service" section run by the BOI (Board of Investment) at the Chamchuri Square on Rama 4 road, for potential investors who wish to open a business in Thailand. You can google BOI Thailand website and get all details.

For each work permit you have to employ 4 Thai persons. Normally you learn about Thai working culture before you start a business.

You have to forget any ideas about you and your wife starting a business with just both of you.

You need as a minimum a Thai partner who must hold 51% of the 'company.'

If you have any Indian friends who are operating here I would suggest to contact them and get from them as much information as you can first.

I suggest you visit the country first and look into business opportunities and the difficulties of setting up in business. Your plan is almost certainly a non starter.

You will need to set up a company with 4 million baht capital and eight Thai employees to get work permits and appropriate permission to stay.

You can only own 49% of the company, 51% must be own by Thai citizen.

As others have already advised, your initial ideas are almost certainly impractical. However, let me try, as far as possible, to be a little less negative. If you have plenty of spare cash, consider the following:

  • For your wife who genuinely wants to study the Thai language, a Non Ed visa would be possible. How much hassle is involved will depend on the school and the immigration office you must deal with.
  • For a price, the Thailand Elite program will provide long term visas. I must stress that these are not business visas, and you must be careful working or conducting business while using them. However, certain activities are tolerated. Definitely OK is attending trade shows and purchasing goods with the intention of exporting them. A grey area (but currently fine) is working as a digital nomad (i.e. with no Thai employer or customers, but working online from your home or a co-working area). If you start trying to sell goods or services in Thailand without a work permit (which implies a properly constituted majority Thai owned, on paper, company) expect trouble.

You will not be able to get such a visa until you have started your business and have the paperwork to apply for a non immigrant B visa.

Your only option is to apply for tourist visas. Then after getting here set up the company and obtain all the required document to apply for the visa.
