rooster59
Hapless would be robber arrested after trying to burn the bank down Image: Thai Rath Police quickly arrested a would be bank robber in Phrapadaeng after he set fire to gasoline at the Suksawat branch of the Ormsin Bank in the area. Forty eight year old air con technician Anon Sangthawee was rounded up just 200 meters away under a bridge. He said he was a million baht in debt from a failed air-con business and his wife had been on the phone demanding money. So he went to try and get 100,000 from the bank. He "armed" himself with two bottles of gasoline and a stove lighter and donned a wig, cap, and fake glasses. He walked into the bank and demanded money. Then he poured gasoline on the floor around a desk and set fire to it. He left empty handed. A security guard and a customer suffered slight burns in the fire that was extinguished quickly as police arrived. The Phrapadaeng police soon found the robber under the Bhumibol bridge. He admitted everything and they recovered all the evidence they needed. Anon, from Bang Mot, was charged with robbery and arson and detained, reported Thai Rath.
