Search continues for injured wild elephant

The search for an injured elephant entered the third day on Saturday (Feb 24) with search teams increasing to four.

One team found footprints believed to belong to the injured elephant in the roadside bushes, around two kilometres from the spot where the pachyderm was hit by a pick up truck on the 3259 road on Feb 22.

The wild elephant was believed to sustain injuries to its hind legs as it was seen dragging the hind legs into the bushes after the accident.

Really? Both its back legs broken and it's a really really big animal.. and it can't be found? OMG! 555

How difficult can it be to find an elephant with two broken back legs?
I'm hoping beyond hope that the animal was stunned and recovered without major injury and was able to move on.  Very sad.

Very difficult to find such a small and agile animal.

Even by trained wardens.

Unbelievable...the wildlife experts of ThaiVisa would have found this animal within minutes. Some people really don't have a clue.

Not so easy to find unfortunately, regardless of size as, being injured to such a degree, the elephants manage, in one way or another, to go to their long ago chosen spot to die. Very sad for this beautiful creature if this is what’s happened and shame on the uncaring person who hit it.

Unlucky.

This must be the only elephant on the planet that doesn't have a micro-chip, or giant tracking collar.

Don't they have forest/jungle rangers who can track?

I understand it's a big area that they have to search, but an injured animal that size can't travel too far/quickly.

Or use sniffing dogs...

Or airborne infrared...
