Leicester 'blast': Four people taken to hospital

 

Four people have been taken to hospital after reports of an explosion and a fire in the Hinckley Road area of Leicester.

 

Police declared a "major incident" after reports of an explosion just after 19:00 GMT.

 

Emergency services said they were conducting a search and rescue operation at the scene.

Oh brother. Here's hoping it is not what it appears to be.

Apparently a Londis convenience store blew up, more likely a gas leak than terrorism.

I guess that could be one explanation, but of course there are less innocent explanations possible.

We'll just have to wait and see what the inquiry comes up with.

An ex Londis. 4 dead. Unlikely to be a terrorist incident according to the police but won't know what caused it until they can investigate properly.

 BBC report " Witnesses said the shop was formerly a Londis but recently became a Polish supermarket."   Maybe this reduces the possibility that the incident is 'terror' related.
