If I recall correctly, statistics have shown that New Years / Songkran traffic fatalities are only slightly higher than the 50-60 annual deaths/day average, ie. ~70 deaths/day.

About a 20% increase

Prayut Chan-o-cha also instructed state officials to prepare measures to improve road safety

What, another 'now you see it, now you don't' proclamation on passengers in the cargo holds of pick-up trucks? The only measures that will be forthcoming will be the annual road deaths' reduction raffle, which they again will fail to get right. Although the pessimists do get it right - every time.

Not enough deaths last year and all this welfare buying votes is killing us. Extend Songkan lol

Hey, don't be so hard on them. You have to take into consideration that no one taught them how the damn kids are made.

Only slightly higher at 70 per day than the normal 50/60 per day

Thanks for that comforting info definitely worth a jar or two
