What a piece of absolutism you presented here, Fred. Prostitution can be anything from one end of the spectrum to the other, and you only seem to grasp the negative side of it. Except for the obvious which Kyoto mentioned, for some women it can also mean potentially meeting a man who will care for her, and if she has children, them too. We see many examples of that in Thailand. And prostitution in Thailand is very different from what you presented earlier about street based sex workers in Baltimore, where drugs, homelessness and other serious problems were also a big part of their situation. The irony in presenting prostitution as something simply evil that should be suppressed is that if your concern really is protecting the women, pushing it further underground can actually make life more dangerous for the very women you claim to protect.
