Creditcard without depositing 2 mio bath

Recommended Posts

Hi, im looking for a credit card without depositing 2 mio bath of investment like SCB Prime and Kasikorn The Premier.
I took a look at SCB Beyond with Mastercard World and Krugsri Signature with Visa Signature.

I like their agreement the Cinemas and that you can use Mastercard World and Visa Signature partner with all the lounges and hotels discount.

So my question is. Beside KTH Krugthai cards. Can you get a better card than theese above?

Info: I have 12 months visa, workpremit and a salery over 200.000 bath every month

Cypercard: https://thaicybercard.com/
Krugsri: https://www.krungsricard.com/th/kccsignature.html
SCB: http://www.scb.co.th/creditcard/credit-card/beyond

I have an SCB "Beyond" Mastercard. I opened a deposit account on which I receive interest, and my credit card limit it half the amount deposited. Unless you want a credit limit of 1 million baht, no need for a 2 million investment.

I am on a retirement extension and have no other banking arrangements with SCB.

Thank you for the answer. How much did you need to deposit for the Beyond Mastercard?
I allready have deposited 200.000 bath on a fixed account for the Ultra Platinium, but for some reason i needed to fillout a new application, so i took a look at the Beyond World Mastercard.

I have worked in Thailand since 2005, with a WP and one-year extensions. I have a KTC ‘Titanium’ card, a Kasikorn ‘Passion’ card and a Central ‘The 1’ credit card. None of these required a deposit of any kind. I’ve had the KTC card nine years, the Central card five years, and got my first Kasikorn card about seven years ago. The limits are reasonable (they seem to be happy offering twice your gross monthly salary), and to get them I just filled in the application forms and provided proof of salary. No deposits, and no other requirements. I once had a Bangkok Bank card, but that did require a deposit, and after I got the KTC card I cancelled the Bangkok Bank card because they were basically charging me to use my own money, as well as charging interest even though I had deposited a sum equal to the credit limit on the card.

Hi SWW, im not interested in KTC, because i need to pay 4.000 bath in fee every year and they priveleges sucks compared to the other banks and as I said i dont want Kasikorn. Because a Visa Signature (The Premier) you need to deposit 2 mio bath and their Exchange rates are bad and you can use the K mobilbank on a european apple id.

My question was. Beside KTC Krugthai cards. Can you get a better card than theese above?
and i asked
FracturedRabbit how much he needed to deposit for the Beyond.

As I said, twice the amount you want as a credit limit. I only need a 200k limit, so deposited 400k.

Thanks for the answer. That was also what they said, when i applied for the Ultra Platinium.
But im going to move to Bangkok next month, so i will just cancel my application and apply in Krugsri.
Its 90% of the deposit, a Visa Signature and with the Major Cineplex in stead of SF.

With a Non 0 & work permit KTC gave me credit card without an account with them at the time

Yes, but i dont want KTC. I know that they have the VISA Signature credit card but their benefits are not good compared to the other banks.
You also need to pay the 4.000 bath each year. The others banks. If you use 100.000 - 300.000 bath between 1.1 - 31.12 you dont need to pay the fee.
The only reason to have KTC should be about the 100% credit of the deposit.

Although I too have a a couple of Bangkok Bank credit cards and have to retain a fixed deposit equal to the credit limit, I receive interest on that FD. I do not pay any on the CC. it is paid off completely from my Savings account (which also receives interest) every month. So no charges or interest charged on the CC, I do not take any cash advances with it.

Hi Jack, are you an owner of the Platinum Leader Credit Card? There is not a lot of informations on their site about benefits on this card, but I know their credit limit is 100% (like KTC) of the deposit.

If you own one. Is it a Visa Signature?

I have both Visa and Mastercard ones. The Visa ones states Platinum but not anything about Leader. I have had them both some years now, since 2010. Yes the 'credit' limit is the same as my fixed deposit, but that isn't really 'credit' is it, only for the short spell until I pay the bill at the end of the month. Both cards seem to work off the same FD/ credit amount. In fact when I received the cards I was surprised I got 2, as I though I was applying for a single card.

Thanks for you answer. Im not interested in the standard credit cards with the salary of 15.000 bath every month. Only the "high" end without depositing 2. mio bath.
Only the the Visa Signature and Mastecard World/World Elite.

But i guess its only the Krugsri and Beyond :)

I don't understand what you mean by 'salary of 15,000 baht each month'.

Regarding spending, many places in Thailand add a 3% surcharge if you use a credit card.

Does the card double as a debit card, which would avoid this surcharge, but then presumably not count toward the yearly spending threshold to waive the card fee?

I’ve always been sceptical of these reward programs because I’m quite sure that VISA/Mastercard are not losing money on them. If they can make you spend > 300,000 baht/year on your credit card, that means they get > 9,000 baht/year in transaction fees compared to nothing, if you were just using your bank’s debit card.

Thats right about the 3%. with Krugsri with the 300.000 bath.
Im almost eating out everyday, so its should be easy to spend with hotels, flight ticket and new gadges.

But I will wait and see about the SCB World Mastercard (100.000 / 5.000 bath in fee). But it has taking so damn long time. My friend said that some banks "does not like" foreing people with the deposit amount to have a credit card, because they dont earn intrest like when Thai people go in minus.
