Non-O Thai Child

Featured Replies

Hi members. If anybody could assist I would appreciate it. I am based in Bangkok with my fiance and child.

I have a Non-O Visa based on having a Thai Child. My Visa is due to expire this month and that means I have to do the dreaded Immigration trip for my extension. Instead of the extra 60 day extension I would like to opt for the 1 year. Now I know you have to show income, either 400k in the bank or 40k per month. I can show 40k a month but this is where I need advice.

I receive my money via our family wholesale business back in South Africa and my aunt who is a travel agent, comes to Thailand every 2nd month, with a tour group and hands me my earnings in cash which I then deposit into my account in varied amount every month but always between 40k and 50k per month.

I would like to know what documentation besides my bank book do I need to show that this is how I receive my income?

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for suggesting any solutions.

Besides the financial proof you also need to be the legal father of your child by way of legitimization or marriage to apply for the extension of stay based upon being the parent of a Thai.

This topic has info about legitimization.

To prove the income you will need a letter from your embassy. Could you get a statement from the family business to prove your income if needed at the embassy.

With financial proof you could also get a multiple entry non-o visa in Penang.

Thank you for the reply Ubonjoe.

My daughter is only 2yrs old, will this be a problem for legitimisation or will my fiances consent be enough? Can this be done at Chaeng Wattana?

I'm sure my family can provide me with a letter confirming that they send money for me. So once I receive the letter I have to take this to my embassy?

One more question...if I'm unable to get all these documents and legitimisation done on time then I would have to do a 60 day extension, my question is, is there a limit of single entry Non-O Visa's based on Thai Child I can apply for? I'm on my 2nd now and I've been to Savannakhet on both those trips to get my visas, hassle free.

Many thanks Ubonjoe.

The legitimization is done at a Amphoe (district office) if the child is 7 year old or older. You will need to go through the family court to do it since your child is only 2 years old.

Some embassies do a affidavit that requires no proof. You need to check with your embassy to find out what they require.

There is no limit on the number of non-o vsias you can get.

Hello ubonjoe,

Could you please confirm the 400k in thai bank needs to be there for how long (2months?), in case of applying for extension based on Thai Child

Many thanks as always...

Have the rules changed in the last 4 years - 4 years ago I was able to get a 60 days extension when when my non-b extension stopped because I left a teaching job. I have 2 children and I am named on the birth certificates, I’m not married - I was hoping to do the same at the end of this month

Many thanks

My post was about applying for a one year extension.

Not needed for the 60 day extension to visit your child.

Ah ok - perfect

So I should still be able to get a 60 day extension at the end of the month when my current 1 year extension based on a non-b expires

So, it is same 'seasoning' requirement for extension based on Thai Wife OR Thai Child?

Can anyone please confirm?

For an extension based upon being the parent of a Thai there is no written requirement for it to be in the bank for any amount of time. But some offices want it to be in the bank for 2 months.

Marriage is 2 months.
