BANGKOK, 12 March 2018 (NNT) - The Thai Association for Emergency Medicine has launched a summer camp for children to teach them about life-saving first aid skills for emergency patients. The association said it will propose the skills be included in a curriculum of the Ministry of Education.

The Thai Association for Emergency Medicine, in collaboration with the Thai Health Promotion Foundation and many other relevant organizations, on Sunday arranged the activity to review and evaluate the outcomes of the camp, which has been organized for four times.

This activity was arranged to see if the camp participants can remember or use the life-saving first aid skills in their daily life. The association remarked that the skills need to be continuously practiced.

The evaluation results will be analyzed to improve the next training. A report will be written based on the analysis and submitted to executives of the Ministry of Education to include the life-saving first aid skills in a curriculum for elementary students.

finally, some potential positives for thai's youth; now just add to the curricula:

how the human body works

how and what foods to eat intelligently

How about training teachers. Thai way to administer first aid for a blood nose. Lay the student on their back and stuff tissues up their nose. I've been trying to teach the correct way but I'm a farang what would I know.

First Aid Guide
The following self-care measures are recommended:

  1. Have the person suffering the nosebleed sit upright and lean forward. He/she should breathe out of his/her mouth.
  2. If there are any clots in the nostril, have the person gently blow them out.
  3. Firmly pinch the soft part of the nose, and place a cold compress on the bridge of the nose. This should be done continuously for 15 minutes. Do not release the pressure on the nose.
  4. If the person's nose is still bleeding, repeat the above steps one more time.

Note: If the person's nose is still bleeding after repeating the above steps one [more] time, seek medical care.
