No, you just have to ensure there is 800,000 Baht in your account for 3 months (IIRC) before you do your extension of stay.

Up to you if you spend the cash during the year and top up when extension time comes around or just leave it there.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

You need to have 800.000 in a Thai bank account for 3 months when applying for extension of stay (two months first time)

No need to transfer the money every year.

65.000 per month in income will also serve for the application.

Also a combination of income and funds will do.

You need a certified (by your embassy) income of at least 65K baht per month.

OR

800K baht in a Thai bank account in your name for 60 days for the first years application, and 3 months for subsequent years.

OR

A combination of certified income and cash in the bank totalling 800K. E.g. 392K in the bank plus 34K pm (408K pa) income

The money doesn’t have to stay in the bank during the year, just for the 60 days/3 months.
