Just wondering if the details of the required 40K baht monthly income are known yet ? I mean if its sufficient to show this amount coming into your Thai account from abroad for 3 months or payslips or Embassy letters required ?

My friend told me that you need to show the last 3 months of tax documents and payment of last year's tax IN THAILAND and you usually need a letter from your bank and embassy (plus copy of your passbook) if your funds come from OUTSIDE THAILAND.

Can anyone confirm this?

I would also love to get some updated information about this change.

How about the provision to combine your income with your wife to acheive the B40,000 minimum?

Maybe someone at Sunbelt Asia could enlighten us.

It would be much appreciated.

Letter from Employer overseas, stating years worked, position, guaranteed salary. After looking at this Employer letter, the Embassy may give you a certified declaration of income letter. Both letters are needed by Immigration, if you use the overseas salary option.

This is correct. The 40 K salary can be achieved by your wife, you or a combination of both.

How would that work if the income if from an investment fund, for someone married and over 50??

Is that an acceptable option?

As it stands this looks like a mess and will leave a lot of folk up s**t creek without a paddle. For those with a family member working in LOS earning the 40K and able to produce the tax papers then no problem.

For the rest of us a very different situation as its highly unlikely that someone who has a job that can produce the required papers plus embassy confirmation would need a non 0 in the first place as they would be too busy working back home to use the time it offers.

There are many people who have more than adequate income gained from property rental back home or ecommerce, investment income whatever who will fall foul of this IF this is really the way things iron out.

With the bank deposit method also in doubt (who knows how long the current Singapore situation will continue?) I'm going to have to get my thinking hat on. :o

I believe Sunbelt provided an example rather than a requirement. Believe that immigration will likely accept any proof the Embassy will normally accept for proof of income/pension. If that is not the case please let us know.

Lop you are correct. I was using the example of employment.

If you are getting a pension overseas or rental income. The key is to convince the Embassy, to obtain that letter of "guarantee:" You then take the copy of the proof (original copy as well) plus letter from the Embassy to Immigration.

We have done this process many times per week. You can change a 30 day tourist visa exemption stamp( should have 21 days left) or tourist visa to a "O" visa, then do the extension of stay.

Therein lies my dilemma Sunbelt, given the mutual antagonism that exists between myself and the Embassy (goes back to tsunami days) I prefer to never set foot inside the place.

I'll find another way.

Thanks for your help.
