Minister questions Mahasarakham University if it protects its student intern enough after exposing corruption

The deputy minister for education yesterday questioned the role of the Mahasarakham University in protecting a university student intern after she exposed in public corruption at the Khon Kaen Centre for the Destitute, but was later ordered to apologize a wrongdoer at the centre by her thesis supervisor, who is a lecturer at the university.

The student intern, Ms Panida Yospanya alias “Nong Bam”, was also reported to be slapped on the shoulder by her supervisor who gave instructions to interns in receiving training at the centre as part of their thesis doing.

Prof Dr Udom Kachintorn, the education deputy minister, said yesterday (Mar 14) he has received unofficial report of the case by the High Education Commission’s secretary-general Dr Supatra Champathong that the fact finding committee appointed by the Mahasarakham University has found that the supervisor did slap on the shoulder of the student intern and forced her to apologize officials at the centre for the exposure.

A shocking indictment against the university and the lecturer who was seemingly trying to protect the racketeers involved in the scam. The big question now is ....what will the Minister do about it?   Answer - he will probably follow tradition and do absolutely nothing.

The slapper that hit Nong Bam was a female, would things be different had it been a man?

I wish this gutsy young lady well, as she seems to have opened a large can of worms.

I think this is more about whistle-blower backlash, where anyone remotely associated with the whistle-blower issue would rather not have publicity affect their current or future status.

Might as well try to find something nice to say about Yingluck Shinawatra, rather than be constantly negative, then get bashed from all sides for attempting to do so. Better to keep quiet (at least that's the thinking behind these types of actions).

Especially as this might not have gone the way it did, as the different entities invariable investigate themselves and find no wrongdoing, but then sue the University for slander.

Wonder did her mom slap her too when she got home.

Poor kid, a hero amongst a bunch of impotent teachers and upbringers.

What has YS to do with this?

I just hope that her profile is public enough to discourage a "disappearance", or the contraction of a rare blood disorder.

The powers-that-be cannot tolerate snitches.

It was her mum who advised her to report the embezzlement.
