Police in Pattaya have announced the arrest of a Chinese tourist charged with stealing an iPhone belonging to a Thai guide on another group tour.

Earlier guide Ekkachai Sae-leu, 20, had reported to police that his phone had gone missing on a trip to Koh Sak. He suspected a person from another tour group was responsible.

A GPS signal led the cops to a locker at a restaurant on Koh Larn and the arrest of 58 year old Mr Lin Tong.

TNews said he claimed the phone was his but Pattaya station chief Pol Col Apichai Krobpetch has charged him with theft and receiving stolen goods.

The principals in the story were seen going over the evidence in a video at Pattaya police station yesterday.

Mr. Lin Tong was caught at the restaurant, chewing with his mouth wide open and speaking loudly.

Upon his arrest and removal, the Thai staff weeped with happiness and relief.

You reap what you sow,  Pattaya.

You made us Falangs unpopular and disrespected us for

drinking all your beer and spending all our money in your bars, restaurants, and on your ladies.   ( bad people we were )

Now you have the new quality tourists you wanted so bad.

this is nothing to what you will see in the coming years.

Good luck :jap:

I just flew thru Bejing on my way back from BKK last week too Chicago. As we were exiting the plane I saw several Chinese taking airline blankets/pillows and placing them in their carry on luggage... They do not want to miss an opportunity...

When will these thieves learn you have to pull the battery out, or place the phone

in a Faraday bag to stop signals from the phone being tracked.

I kind of hope they don't, as it leads to the arrest of many of them.

You do realise that the mall and market assistants are going to be totally confused with questions on when this new designer label bag will be on the shelves.

??

I agree with Stanleycoin above.  The big--spending farang has been abused into going elsewhere.  The Chinese coaches clutter the streets and make driving a car an ordeal.  You will reap what you have sown, Pattaya.
