Teachers told to strip at seminar - but it's all part of the "training"

TNews reported on pictures secretly taken that appeared on the internet after a training seminar for teachers in ASEAN.

The pictures showed Thai male teachers naked to the waist in front of females in the audience. Many senior civil servants were in attendance at the "training".

Questions were asked on Facebook on the Anti Sotus page as to what was going on.

TNews said that it was a module on self-sacrifice.

One teacher was selected from each smaller group and were instructed to remove name tag first, then shoes then their vests and shirts.

The strip tease then stopped before it got more embarrassing.

What a load of nonsense, a senior member of that group getting some kind of sexual kick out of embarrassing juniors.

I'm sure you know what makes the difference between a naked male and female upper body, and if you don't, well then I understand why you are shocked.

Did you ever notice that the male swimmers at sports events all have a naked upper body, and they are watched by millions of people worldwide.

Male swimmers, boxers and other athletes choose to show their torsos voluntarily as part of the activity.

Women who work in the "entertainment" industry, particularly strippers and go-go dancers, remove their clothes voluntarily as they are not shy about showing their bodies. In this case, asking men to remove their shirts etc in front of a large gathering  of mixed students and teachers is humiliating and unnecessary. Would it be OK for the school to ask girls under 12 to strip their tops? NO!

Hugging a tree in western culture in leadership classes is not seen as foolish by others?

You must have another news article than me, because where does it say there were students in the seminar?

Also this is a seminar, and as you like to use the word "voluntarily", I'm sure all those teachers were there on a voluntarily base and in a closed seminar.

Absolutely, but they are not forced to do it... Spot the difference there ?

Turn down the aircon.

"Self-sacrifice"? Huh. Surely there are other methods to highlight the importance, and reinforce the behavior, of self-sacrifice?

Teachers have to go on these seminars, it's not an opt in/opt out kind of thing :)

No, I read the same article as you and yes, I made a mistake, there were just teachers and  senior civil servants in attendance. Had they been asked to remove all their clothes would that be acceptable in a closed seminar?

Do you see nothing a little bit odd about this activity? Adult male school teachers being ordered to remove clothes in front of an audience?

Not everybody is built like Christiano Ronaldo. It was unnecessary and IMHO humiliating.  The teachers were told to be there by their superiors. Others on this board agree with that.

Shows again the lack of capability of people getting promoted by cash and nepotism, well above their abilities  hen have no idea what to do, so they invent idiotic inappropriate activities like this.

By the way what was the budget for this event, is it transparent? If not why not?

"It was unnecessary and IMHO humiliating"

I add some words:

unnecessary,

inappropriate,

had no value in any way,

made no solid & focused positive and inspiring point with a solid rationale,

and was IMHO humiliating,

Is this supposed to be education reform?

Blatant sexism.

Do you know anything about Thai culture and modesty in regard to skin showing, which applies to both male and female?

Oh my God. What a crime. Women can see the upper naked part of a man. I suppose in facebook or other medias they did it before. This country is far behind the moon and any kind of reality.

In any village men are working and walking like that and nobody is embarrassed.

Reverse sexual harassment. The women behind this must be located, and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law! This is outrageous. Imagine the humiliation these men suffered?

LOL. Just a pun on the "war on men" taking place back in the Western world. My heart goes out to any single man in the US, the UK, Australia or New Zealand. The four weakest nations in the world, when it comes to absolute and total dominion of the women. The motto may as well be "Honey welcome home, check your sack as the door, before you walk into the house".

I have from a good source that they gonna change the name of this forum to the Thaiwhinge forum

Morale building.

Bonding.

Team development.

Education reform.

Attitude adjustment.

Togetherness.

Cheaper than 'paint ball' too.
