up2you2
The first option that was installed to cover my swimming pool steps, so that you would slip going down them was sandwash. But of course it's just a matter of time before the chlorine eats away at it, with the consequence that you end up vacuuming it into your pump.Second option coloured concrete steps. In spite of assurances to the contrary, once more the chlorine first of all changed the chosen colour, then as it that wasn't enough eat into the concrete itself, and turned it into clouds of grey powder as you walked down into the swimming pool - see attachments.Enough is enough, purpose built non slip swimming pool tiles do not exist on the market here in Thailand. So the hard option (money), was now turning out to be the soft option, as just how many times does one what to go through this ordeal of having to replace the surface of ones swimming pool steps.Oh and please let us not forget the cost of all of these re-installations, but the regular service and maintenance of your pump.So the material of choice has been Indian black (when wet) granite.2,700 Baht per square metre, non slip gold might have been cheaper. So then a survey was convened here in Phuket to establish if this was the going rate, for white skinned, long nose Farangs.Prices varied up to 3,300 Baht, but one was always greeted by masses of dogs when you entered into these premises.Just the sheer weight of this gear, I would have thought would deter most people from stealing it.In spite of the firm never having installed granite steps before, I think they did a surprisingly good job. However there were of course issues regarding all of the broken tiles, in uplifting the existing concrete. No not in who paid for these replacement tiles, rather the fact of who was going to re-install them.So the final product - attachments.Stairway to heaven, I don't know, let's wait and see. SwimmingPoolsThailand
Sandwash can be pefectly sealed with inexpensive sealant designed for this purpose, as any genuine pool professional should know.
Valentine
Even without sealant sandwash will last for about 5 years
Bagwain
Sealant is not meant for under water use!! 99% of pool owners in Thailand don't bother or don't know about water balance, so sandwash will at best last 5 yrs but more likely less. (Calcium levels) PebbleCrete or PebbleGlass would have been better & cheaper than granite. Plus nicer colours!!
Chaichara
This product is extremely expensive. Not generally an option for private domestic spool. Looks good in the water though,

Looks good in the water though, How did you come up with that reasoning? It is the same price as top quality tiling. However we are in & out in 2 to 5 days as apposed to weeks with tiling. Starts at 1500 per sq/m. 5 yr product warranty. Try getting a warranty on tiles! No more re-grouting, loose or falling off tiles!! Hardest pool surface on the market!!!! Not to be confused with Beadcrete which is chemical/polymer based & very expensive!!!
