Airbagwill Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 I am going to have to get a tourist visa from Savannakhet, Laos. In a couple of months I'll be starting a new job and doing a B visa run, but in the meantime I need a tourist visa until I start work. (I've looked at Malaysia but it looks like Laos may be nearer and more convenient.) I'll be crossing into Laos from Thailand in my car or by bus. ( the car has all the right documents etc) Can I get a list of documents of someone who has RECENTLY done this? I have a check list - can you add or subtract from this? I need my passport The form from the consulate Photos How many? What size? Bank balance of 20,000 baht - is cash OK or in a bank? ATM receipt or full stement? Foreign bank or Thai bank? Do I need a plane ticket of any kind.? what kind Is a booking deposit OK? The FEE How much is it in Thai baht? Any advice on this list would be useful as things hae changed sinvce I last did this.
Airbagwill Posted March 29, 2018 Author Posted March 29, 2018 PS - anyone know what days they are closed over Songkhran?

BuckBee Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 You need 3 photos (1 for lao visa on arrival and 2 for the thai visa form), any passport size seems be acceptable. Have the lao visa on arrival fee in crisp dollars as cheaper. I would park up thai side and bus it over . You'll need > onward travel booking out of thailand hotel/accommodation booking/lease for thailand Bank statement thai or other really and with your name on them ideally, they don't want see cash . setv Fee is 1,000Baht Download lao visa and consulate forms in advance > https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B7Ub2apq5-pfUVgxYjVET3RsUTg https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B7Ub2apq5-pfSXpfMzB4aGltdDQ
PerkinsCuthbert Posted March 29, 2018 Posted March 29, 2018 Note too that 16th & 17th April are Lao public holidays; although 17th is not marked as a holiday on the Thai calendar in the link above, I would play safe and assume the Thai Consulate-General will be closed that day too.

Do I really need to buy an airline ticket? Does this mean that everyone doing a visa run now has an onward ticket? It's a couple of years since I've done this ... I've always taken my car before, and I was planning to stay over the Song Khran period. 14/15 April onwards. Do they close the border at Song Khran? PS - Is a Thai bank book sufficient?

A friend of mine showed them a bus ticket out of Thailand, this was accepted, however that was over a year ago, i'm sure I have read recent reports that they are still accepted, you will need to do a search As for Hotel Booking look at Booking.com, can be cancelled without up front payment

I've been working in Thailand on a B visa. (For several years) the last time I got an SETV was over 2 years ago on a different old passport. I'm starting a new job in about 2 'months so I need a tourist visa in the meantime. I have an address in Thailand where I live. I also used to live in Savannakhet, so I'm looking forward to spending Songkhran there. I want to enter Thailand after Songkhran on an SETV My concern is this Proof of onward travel So Sanemax, my question to you is did you show any proof of onward travel? If so, what was it? Air ticket or something else?
