This is my favorite story for a while now. I love it when people who can’t keep their mouths shut are forced to. Nice job on shutting her up. You know she’s not actually sorry though.

So does Laura Ingrahams.

Yep she has her right to free speech and the advertisers have the right to sponsor whatever shows they feel reflect their corporate message. The advertisers aren't picking sides they don't want to be associated with her vile rubbish, perhaps she will find sponsors who agree with her views. She can continue to say whatever she wants.

Perhaps the NRA could be a sponsor?

Why bother. Fox give them nothing but positive coverage and it is absolutely free. They also beat up on anyone opposed to the NRA; as in this instance.

The point ultimately is that he *wasn't* a survivor of the shooting, which initially he admitted. He was at home and rode to the school when he heard about the attack. He *is* a media whore, milking the attention because his classmates died - not because he survived. Ingraham is right to call him out, IMO. Hogg is a turd, pure and simple.

Of course this is false as it has already being pointed out by another post but even if it was true , every student of that school who had his/hers classmates gunned down is a victim and as such a survivor.

They can't shut them down due to freedom of speech, so the plan is to target individual opinion leaders on Fox and get them defunded, so they are shut down. Censorship by removal.

They already tried with Hannity, but failed.

I don't understand how the funding is targeted to individual shows, rather than as a station as a whole, but apparently it is.

Personally, she is not my favourite host on Fox by a long shot, but she has a following.

The ultimate aim is to remove any that have a public platform opposing the leftist movement, and it seems like Fox is the main one at present.

O Reilley is an example of what happens when successfully targeted. Removed because of bad publicity, but never proven to have done anything wrong.

Freedom of speech protects laura and freedom to advertise  where ever they want protects the companies.

Companies advertise on individual shows not on channels, Shows with the highest ratings get the most and command higher price.

... loosing focus here....gun control vs crazy users... time to sell the media and become a movie star...

Fox ‘news’ is a business and all about profits first.

Ideology comes a distant second.

Up until now the easiest way to make money was to be super sensationalist to bring in the paranoid conservatives (Obama a foreigner anyone...?).

To bring in the haters, hosts basically saw it that their job was to be the biggest <deleted> possible - and they’ve been getting used to bringing out their inner aresh0le on a regular basis.

Unaplogetically up until now....

Now their money is walking - they hypocrites they are - they’ve rediscovered Christianity in an attempt to bring back the sponsors.

Time will tell if this is the beginning of something.

The bullies don't take being bullied very well, especially when those fighting back and doing so with a bit of strategy.

I get really upset with some of the stuff I read about the Parkland survivors.   They have been through such a horrible experience and, at a minimum, a little compassion is deserved.

No one has to agree with them, but the personal remarks and slanderous statements are way out of line.

12 major advertisers pulled out now.

Got it to love a backlash, especially when it’s against such an ideologically divisive organisation like fox.

I am quite conflicted about this and similar stories.

I think she is a vile, loathsome, ideologically-scary, giant B****, but on the other hand her show isn't news (despite trying to look like it is) and even she has the right to free speech, no matter how offensive.

There is already waaaaaaay too much tribalism and polarization in the world; do we really want to go down the road where advertisers have to "pick a side" as well?

Based on the story above, it sounds like she was insensitive and stupid, but are those crimes? Not to me.

Perhaps we all need to chill a bit...

Laura made an apology and Hogg rejected it.

And rightly so, because the apology was insincere and reeked of false piety with the whole “spirit of Holy Week” crap.

She's on "holiday" for a week. Whether it's a permanent holiday like O'Reilly or she weathers the storm like Hannity and returns, remains to be seen.

Hard to say.

According to the article, she didn't mock him for being a victim. She mocked him for whining about college places. So before passing judgement - I'd like to know if that's true or not.

I'd normally say "follow the money" and side with the advertisers but the world has gone so PC lately that pulling ads is almost an ad in itself. "look how PC we are, we pulled our ads". It's a great way to get coverage.

In fact, who knows - the advertisers may have been in on it...

He wasn't whinging. He has been admitted to other universities. He stated that  he was not accepted and the media attention wasn't helping.

Wow. Are you aware that the kid comes from a bonafide conservative stock? He's your poster boy for   a responsible well brought up kid. Did you know his father is a retired FBI agent? Hardly a home of hotbed radicals. He wasn't in the spotlight initially, but took on the attention when other kids couldn't handle the attention and the death threats. Are you aware he's been getting death threats? Ingraham is a bully. She thought she could bully a kid. She wasn't prepared for the fact that his family closed ranks and that he was raised in a family sworn to uphold the US Constitution against shrill McCarthy like  hate mongors like Ingraham.  She's a bully pure and simple. This is a good kid. Clean cut, law abiding, with a clean record and a history of community service.

What is it with people who attack kids for acting on their principles and with integrity? And we wonder why  the youth are cynical and have no respect for the older generation.  Ingraham and her crowd are all the products of the greedy and selfish 80's and 90's. Her tactics are not shared, nor supported by older bonafide conservatives. If anything, old time conservatives like McCain and Gergen have this kid's back.

School pupil gives Fox presenter an object lesson on Freedom of Speech.

Yes Fox presenter gets to say what she likes but she gets to suffer to consequences of her ill chosen words.

What's not to like?

The NRA are rather focussed on dealing with the consequences of them having accepted Russian money and redirected it to the Republican election campaign.

Oh...and those kids with ideas they can change the world, they are on the NRA's case too.

The times they are a-changing.

To me the display of respectful protest and reasoned debate has rather shocked this jaded soul.

I was at the point when I thought that nobody could actually have a reasoned debate and express their views in a respectful manner.

Yet somehow these HS kids in the face of withering abuse from certain sections of the 'adult' community have displayed more grace under fire than I would ever have imagined possible in this age of hyper partisan social media/fake news, call it what you will.

You may not agree with all they say, but they have displayed courage, rational discourse and grace, which should make Ingraham and her ilk feel ashamed to call themselves adults, let alone journalists, if that's what they are

They have in many ways restored at least a little of my faith in the true nature of the Republic

Hey, I'm tired of seeing that kid's face all over the place also, but it's less nauseating than these Fox people.  A political debate is one thing, personal attacks are another.  The adult in this argument is the teenager.

She's been doing this long before DT announced his candidacy, and it works well with the Fox crowd -- look how it affected the 2016 election.  But that's what she's about, and that's what her books are filled with: who buys that crap?

But the NRA doesn't need her any more, they have Ted Nuggent!   :cheesy:

Hogg boy is rude and arrogant, he even insults his parents,  search youtube to get a real understanding of the nature of his rhetoric.  .... and by the way, his S.A.T. score (though very respectable) is below the average of students accepted at UCLA.

Yet, he was accepted by Caltech, the 5th best university in the world according to the QS World University Rankings® 2016-2017. UCLA ranked 31st. https://www.topuniversities.com/universities/university-california-los-angeles-ucla

Their bravery or lack of thereof is irrelevant. Debate them on their proposals to save lives, not on personality traits, SAT scores or college entrances. Shifting the debate to personalities serves only to highlight the poverty of Laura’s arguments on the issue at hand.

Love that list of alternative tunes she could play, especially tune #1 'Horst Wessel', also know as 'Horst Wessel Lied'

Also known as the Official anthem of the  National Socialist German Workers Party, better known as the Nazi Party

Too funny!
