Students ripped off in 4 million baht loan fraud - they were promised 100% interest in 15 days!

news09.jpg

A Bangkok student and a Phuket friend still at high school went to crime suppression police yesterday to make a complaint about a woman who ripped them off in a fake loan scheme.

In total there are thought to be 200 victims in the 4 million baht con.

Tanya, 22, who is at a government uni, met "Jae Kai Noi" (an assumed name) through her elder sister. After she put 1000 baht into the scheme and got 1000 baht interest in fifteen days she decided to invest more.

Her next investment of 3,500 baht doubled too within the next two weeks.

Now she fully believed.

But when she put in 20,000 that was the end of that - the fraudster disappeared without a trace.

This is the ultimate way to scam thais....i bet that if she played the game a little longer she could have many millions out of it...enough to disappear forever.

As students what were they studying, finance?

i love it

this like the good old classic  "third time lucky" trick, normally done to farang from Thai lady.

1. borrow 3,000baht- paid back 2 weeks later no problem

2. borrow 10k baht-paid back 2 weeks later thanks again no problem.

3. borrow 30k baht- 2 weeks later...not see you again, bye bye!

genious how they added the interest thing to attract Thais though.

i try not to say som num nah but this

must be a special kind of stupid to think you gonna get 100% interest.

tho i do wonder what the scammer does if she did stop after making the 4,500??

how can he be sure the she come back 3rd time for the big haul?

they wanted to be brain surgeons.

Did the scammer bet on that most students need a calculator to add two numbers together?

Hopefully, the students actually learned from this experience, more than would in the classroom.

No, wrong.

Greed is ingrained in Thai culture.

Its special here !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the required IQ for students seems to be lower than 100.

interesting thought, the higher the interest rate, the wider the customer base. LoL

Yea, lets blame the victims!       I agree they were greedy and not very smart  but how about the con artist?     Don't you think she should be up for a little scorn too?
