If your passport will expire in less than one year when you go to immigration to extend your visa based on retirement will immigration ask you to renew your passport before extending your visa? And is it possible to transfer visa stamps to your new passport at your local immigration office (Pathum Thani in this case) or do you have to go to Chaengwatana (sp?).

You will be applying for an extension of stay and not a visa.

You will be given an extension up to the date your passport expires.

If your passport has less than 12 months of vanity your extension of stay will only be valid to the date it expires.

You can do the stamp transfer at your local immigration office. Visas are not transferred.
