Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere, please feel free to delete or close and link to the thread with the information. I have searched everywhere online and tried searching on this forum but couldn't find anything and I am only posting as a last resort.

I initially planned to travel to Thailand arriving 26th April and departing  24 June - 59 days in Thailand

I have forgotten about a previous commitment made here in Australia in May and I want to change my departing date to May 17th - This would decrease my stay to 38 days

I stupidly booked one of those online flights where its expensive as hell to make any changes + is non refundable. The cost to change the departing flight it $353.00 and the cost of changing both the departing and return flights is $656.00. I booked the ticket with a free return date change in case I need to change the return date for any reason but that can only be redeemed after my departure date. I'm planning to cop the departure change fee and use the flexible return date change once over there to avoid the fee.

The form on the Sydney Thai consulate website now asks for both departure and return flight details. I believe this was not a requirement in the past but now it looks like it is.

My question is - If i apply for a Tourist 60 day visa but my itinerary submitted with the visa application form is only for a 38 day stay, will I get the full 60 day visa or will it only be valid for the 38 days?

Thank you in advance

- John

If you arrive with a Thai Tourist Visa, and are stamped in successfully, you will always get 60-days of stay.  The itinerary, etc is just for the consulate, which isn't even under the same authority as immigration.

The visa will be valid for entry to the country for 3 months from the date of issue.

You will get stamped into the country for 60 days when you arrive.

You itinerary will have no effect on your visa and entry.

There are no 38-day visas!   You will be issued with a normal 60-day visa or you could enter Thailand using a Visa Exempt Entry which allows for a 30-day stay which is extendable for another 30 days on application to an immigration office.
