Okay so I need to renew my UK passport. I have downloaded all of the forms I need from the UK Gov website and have all the documents. So I am supposed to book an appointment with VFS Global in the Trendy Building.

Well sorry if I am being incredibly dumb but I've no idea how to book the appointment? On the VFS website it provides a link saying "click here to book an appointment" but there is no option to do that on the page it takes me to? And on the UK Gov website it provides an email address ([email protected]) but when I emailed them they just replied with the following:

"Please note this email address ([email protected]) is used only to schedule appointment for apply or renewal British passport, and to advise you about UK passports being ready for collection. Queries sent to this e-mail address will not be responded to."

So does anyone have a link or an email address or some other way of making an appointment?

That is the correct email address. What you got was the automated reply to your email.

You have to provide 3 days at with the time that you want the appointment for. The will reply back accepting the date and time or offer you a different one.

You need to register first. On the page linked from "click here to book an appointment" (https://mycart.vfsglobal.co.uk/overseas/default.aspx) you have an option to register. Once you've registered (https://mycart.vfsglobal.co.uk/Overseas/Pages/OSRegistration.aspx) and logged in you should be able to make an appointment.

That is only for appointments for visas not passports.

I did all of that exactly as you say, provided 3 dates and times and my full name.

This was their exact reply: "Please note this email address ([email protected]) is used only to schedule appointment for apply or renewal British passport, and to advise you about UK passports being ready for collection. Queries sent to this e-mail address will not be responded to."

So I guess something is wrong...

I also attempted this. after logging in it takes me to some weird online shopping cart page (see the screenshot) where it is not possible to book an appointment...

Nothing is wrong. The will send you an email later with your approved appointment or another date.

They only reply during normal business days and hours.

Nothing is wrong, everyone gets the same auto response

If you haven't already email them with the following info

Name, DOB, current PP number and 3 dates and times for which you can attend, also which PP you are applying for, normal size or the larger one

They usually get back to you within 24 hours confirming your appointment date

No registering is needed when applying for a new PP

The email address the OP has sent a email to is the correct address for correspondence to book a appointment

This is the correct email  [email protected]

as in the OP

Just would like to add I also got the automatic reply as mentioned above. But then I got confirmation of the appointment after only 5mins from sending the first email.

I did this on a Monday morning so might be of help, and got appt for Friday of same week.
