I'm looking for good places to do my next few Thai SETVs.   Some questions about HCMC and Hanoi.

  1. Will they issue you many visas in one passport?  About how many?
  2. Do visas from other consulates affect your chances here?  How?
  3. Any special requirements like bank statement, onward ticket, hotel booking?

I'm a Canadian.  Many visas in my old passport.  New passport has just 1 visa.  I plan to move around more in the future, but just in case, I'd like to optimize visas for a longer term stay in Thailand.

Thanks in advance.  Visa snob trolls please start your own thread and waste space there.

My information on this is not up to date, but I suspect little has changed. There should be no problem with two each from HCMC and Hanoi. If there are many other Thai tourist visas in the same passport, I would not be inclined to press things further than that. Perhaps, consider Hong Kong and Yangon.

At HCMC they require all the paperwork listed in the website.

But they will accept a ticket out of Thailand dated within the 90days total visa + extension.

No idea on how many etc.

I've had 3 on the bounce from HCMC and when asked they said they would issue more.

Edit: and previously I've had SETVs from there also, in same passport.

They did comment that I had a lot of Thai stamps in my passport to which I replied it's hardly surprising since I had been working there legally for 12 years as evidenced by my Extension of Stay stamps.

Thanks guys.  This helps.

I'm also planning to get visas in Laos.  But maybe it's best to do HCMC and Hanoi for a couple visas each first, and kind of maxing out those locations first before moving on to the easier consulates in Laos?

I'll also look into Yangon.

3 visas sounds good.  But it seems like your situation may be different since you were working legally in Thailand.  Although you said you were getting SETVs not non-B visas, so I'm not sure how that works.  I guess you stopped working at some point and started getting repeat tourist visas.  So maybe our situations are comparable.

Yes that's correct.

And I was also in the situation where my non-Thai wife and child have 1 year non-O extensions.

I got 2 visas from HCMC.  The first time was my very first visa ever.  No problem.  The next time, I had 2 visas from Laos and the first one from HCMC.  They issued me another.  I had to show funds.  They were very nice, but said this would be last one from HCMC.  No red stamp.  Maybe if I went again, showed I have money again it would be no problem.

Interesting.  So from this report, it seems they will issue 2 visas at HCMC in one passport.   You didn't have many other visas in there.  Just 2 from Laos.  Maybe if you had more, like 6 from Laos, they might deny you the 2nd one from HCMC.  Or maybe they don't even look at other visas.

Why do you think showing them money next time might get you a 3rd visa from them?  Since they directly told you that 2nd visa would be your last from them.
