A shop in CM to get Win 7 System Image copied back to HD

I have a VAIO VPCEA16FH running Win 7 64-bit but can't get the Repair Disc to work. A CM shop wiped the HD and installed a circa 2011 Win 7 Home Edition, so there could be hundreds of Windows updates to replace. Horrible!! I have a System Image from a week ago, but going through the Control Panel the system cannot locate the System Image on a USB external drive. I have renamed the computer back to its name before the shop wiped the disk. I cannot figure out which F button to push on boot to get to a menu for copy back the System Image. Maybe I need a System Repair Disk, but so far have not gotten any to work. Maybe the ones I found are for a Win 7 32-bit computer. Not sure. Is there any really professional shop in CM to assist?

I know it's a bit late now, but when you get it running again, use Macrium Reflect Free to make backup system images and ad a recovery boot menu option and also a recovery USB flash drive. It has save my a** many times. No matter what your problems, you're never more than about 20 minutes or so away from a working system again.

I had the exact same problems with a Z series VAIO running Win 7x64.

The backup made within windows failed. I think it's because Sony do a non-standard partition setup... I think it's something like 100MB System, then mostly C Drive, but with multiple gigabyte hidden on a third volume for "VAIO Recovery Center" to do a factory image which includes the bundled Media Apps. It's to do VAIO Care (My old laptop had it on a button).

A regular Windows DVD will, on a blank hard disk, make a 100MB hidden partition and then use the rest as the "C" drive.

So the error occurs when Windows Backup can't apply a 3x parted backup to a 2x parted disk.

Oh, for advance options, on startup, it's F8  https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/17419/windows-7-advanced-startup-options-safe-mode

Now I use Reflect. Much easier. It works!

If you had backed up the Vaio (Factory install) with Reflect then you'd be able to restore. Sorry, I know that's no use now.

Vaio Care and all the other bundled crap are just that - crap. I got rid of it all and now my Vaio works like a charm. Macrium Reflect rocks!!!
