Non-O visa linked to parent's work permit

Featured Replies

My son (19 yrs) has a non-O visa linked to my work permit. His non-O is good until 2 July. However my work permit expires on 2 May and I will have to get a 60 days tourist visa before that. My question: Does my son now also have to get a tourist visa by 2 May? or will his non-O be acceptable until 2 July? ( By the way, he is in the process of enrolling at a college and this should conclude in the next 2-3 weeks. Then he will get a study visa to replace his non-O visa. If not necessary I would not like to incur the expenses of trying to get a tourist visa for him at this point in time.)  Please advise

If you son has a  VALID VISA he need do nothing. OTOH if he has an extension of stay his permission to stay will end at the same time as yours.

Thanks. He has a valid non-O visa obtained 2 wks ago at Thai embassy in South Africa. And if his registration at the local technical college goes according to plan in the next 2 weeks, he would be granted a study visa for 1 year before his non-O expires on 2 July. On the basis of your advice/information we will thus not try to get a new tourist visa for him next week.

He can stay until his entry expires. His non-o visa entry will remain valid.
