August 18, 201114 yr Electrolux seems to be brand of choice so far ...same here, front loader 7Kg, the dogs gets all their fabric's stuff washed at 90 degrees, eh eh
August 18, 201114 yr I have a top end Electrolux front loader. It has broken down every year or two. Service in Bangkok was fast and efficient. Service in the provinces is terrible; it takes days and sometimes weeks of pleading to get their distant service rep out to look at it. Was a very expensive machine and a single maintenance issue can cost more than than the low end washing machine units they sell at Tesco of which can be serviced quickly by any regular technician so I find it difficult to justify Electrolux overall. It has broken down every year or two What do you feed it? Engine parts are supposed to be hand washed.
August 18, 201114 yr I must admit, with hindsight, I too would have gone for a dront loader. I bought a General Electric top loader that takes about 14KG for around 20K Baht, and it is the biggest piece of shit you could ever hope to buy. The nylon filters disintegrated within 6 months, it shreds clothes like a vegetable processor..........stay away, take a look at Sanyo, I have heard they are quite good.
August 18, 201114 yr Respect! henryallemann, I'm happy that my personal choice is the same like yours, you know your Whitewarez ! What do you feed your front loader? I only give Breeze Gold. Great powder! Dissolves perfectly, zero sludge.
February 15, 201214 yr Wanted to wake up this thread again as my top loading Hitachi of many many years finally died. We have been looking at new top loaders and Samsung and LG are on the list. I like that the Samsung have the glass top but I see the LG have the same. The Samsung seems to be a bit cheaper than the LG. I have seen both good and bad reviews of Samsung washers. Does anyone want to add their thoughts on this. Also, if I could afford dropping 30k+ on a unit I would consider getting a side loader with dryer features but at this point <10k is what I'm will to spend.
February 15, 201214 yr I bought a top of the range Samsung Nano frontloader (11.5kg) and absolutely loved it. Silent but powerful and with that Silver Nano button that removes bacteria. Only used it for 3 months and then stored it as other apartments I moved to already had a washer...so looks like it'll end up in the classifieds here.

I was looking at a samsung frontloader that washed and dried and was considering it if I go that route. If you want to sell yours.. where is it at? I have a large vehicle that can pick it up. PM me.
February 16, 201214 yr Electrolux seems to be brand of choice so far ...same here, front loader 7Kg, the dogs gets all their fabric's stuff washed at 90 degrees, eh eh I decided to drop the cash on an electrolux front loader from numchai. 6.5kg with 90 water heater. I'm hoping we wont be disappointed.

What the heck is that exactly? Is there actually sliver ore of some sort involved? Does it last forever, or need to be replenished? I'm serious. The owners manual, of course, has no info, nor can I find it online. (And, doesn't detergent itself kill bacteria, any way? )

The owners manual, of course, has no info, nor can I find it online. (And, doesn't detergent itself kill bacteria, any way? ) Sounds like a sales gimic to me. Even my Samsung refrigerator has some silver nano thing in it. I have also seen silver claimed to be in all sorts of products in Thailand now like deodorant. While it's true that silver particles are anti-bacterial I seriously question how having something in your fridge or washing machine will do any good and for sure if it couldn't last forever. http://en.wikipedia....iki/Silver_Nano In 2005 the South Korean Consumer Protection Board concluded Samsung's Silver Wash technology was exaggerated in advertisements, due to test results which showed 99.9% removal of germs by similar drum-type washers of LG Electronics, Daewoo Electronics, and Whirlpool.[6] Samsung rebutted the accusation, saying their products are still superior because they remove 99.999 percent of germs, rather than the 99.9–99.99 percent removed by the other washers. February 17, 201214 yr We have a Samsung front loader now which works very well. We have had very good service from Samsung in the past when we had some problems with a twin tub that is used 5 or 6 times a day. We had an Electrolux front loader before this, it worked well but was unfortunately badly hit by the flood and floated on it's side in water for 5 weeks. The service guy came out to look at it and gave me a repair quote, even with a 50% discount on parts it would have cost more to repair than buying a new Samsung. The prices for pumps and drum bearings seemed quite outrageous. I will avoid Electrolux in the future! Edited February 17, 201214 yr by Gippy

February 17, 201214 yr Thanks, Semper and Jayman, for those links. For some reason, when I bought the Samsung washer and searched for info on Silver Nano, I didn't see either of those. Interesting stuff.

No, they are just washers. The machine right now is being stored indoors upcountry (near Nongkai). The silver nano is basically silver charges that never run out. They stop bacteria clinging to the fabric after the wash..therefore causing less skin irritation and pimples in environments such as...Bangkok! I did my research and the reviews of this technology were good. Machine looks the business and performs brilliantly. Puts every machine I've had since (Electrolux, Baumatic) in the shade.

I went fro the electrolux front loader based on reviews and research. The samsung just didn't get the points when it came to durability. I was also looking for a more analog control panel vs the digital ones cause they last longer and when the power gets reset they don't reset and will pick up where they left off. Also, that nano silver stuff is pure marketing hype. It actually is proving to be more damaging to the environment in the long run. Tests have shown that the difference between using the silver nano and not on the bacterial growth on clothes is virtually negligible.
February 19, 201214 yr Oh well. The Samsung still washes the clothes bloody well without causing a racket, and it looks sleek. No doubt the Electrolux is just as good. What's washing machines between friends? :-)

What's washing machines between friends? :-) fact remains that if yours was located closer to me and the price was right I would have been happy to buy it from you. As long as it cleans your clothes and doesn't break down after a few washes then I'm happy.
February 20, 201214 yr Bendix anyone? Actually, Mrs B recently splashed 40k on a rather spiffy new Samsung. Looks the part. Very quiet. Does what it says on the box etc.

Well I could sell it for 15,000 (cost 30,000 and had 3 months use max.) and an acquaintance regularly travels by truck down to Chonburi, so it could be arranged for delivery there, the surrounds or even Bangkok I think. It's a shame for it to be sitting pretty without doing its job.
