Process work permit with dependent visa

Featured Replies

Hi,

My wife's employer is processing me a dependent visa while she is working in Thailand. I read somewhere that I could search a job and the employer has to eventually process work permit for me.

However, when I am looking for jobs, no employer is ready to process this. I have applied at least 60 jobs so far where I am right fit for their requirement.

What is the general/best practice to get a job with work permit for a dependent visa holder?

Appreciate your insights.

Thanks,

Chakradhar

Do you have a non-o visa entry or an extension of stay issued by immigration based upon being a member of your wife's family.

The problem is that many work permit offices will not accept a application with that category of visa or extension of stay. If you found a job you might have to leave the country and re-enter on a tourist visa or visa exempt entry to do the application.

What exactly has the prospective employers told you.

I have a non-o visa entry with an extension of stay based on my wife's work permit.

Employers called me and mentioned that they dont process work permit even though wife's got a valid work permit and I have dependent visa.

My wife will stay in Thailand for at least one year and I do not want to site idle at home. I have even read in some forums that I am not supposed to work as a freelancer without work permit in Thailand.

I had a handsome job back in India and decided to move with my wife and find a job to support family.

Is there any possibility I could legally work in Thailand?

Thanks,
Chakradhar

It seems they want you to work illegally if they are saying the do not want to apply for a work permit for you.

Any work requires a work permit. There is no allowance for getting a work permit as a freelancer.

Better advice might be provided if you were able to say what qualification(s) you hold, what experience you have and what type of job you are seeking..............

I have a Masters in Science (Information Technology) and over 10 years experience in Virtualization and Network security. Looking for any job which is based on sales and support on the technologies like VMware, Firewalls, IDP, VPN, etc. Last employment was with Juniper Networks for more than 6 years.

Appreciate your advice.

Thanks,
Chakradhar
