A 3 months in, 2 months out cycle

I'm planning on implementing a cycle of 3 months in Thailand on a tourist visa, then 2 months back in my home country.

 I'll be doing this for the foreseable future..i.e. 3 months in thailand, 2 months at home,  3 months in Thailand/2 months at home etc etc.

 

In the current climate, can I expect any difficulties with immigration?

Highly unlikely. They are after people living in the country, not frequent visitors.

Not if you are on a retirement extension with a multi exit visa.

There is no such visa. No visa is required to leave the country.

There are multiple entry visas issued by embassies and consulates and multiple re-entry permits issued by immigration.

Working in the Middle East on a 10/3 week rotation never any problems just enter and leave on a Tommy Tourist visa.
