Top Burma honours to Thai general

Rangoon (dpa) - Burma's top military brass gave visiting Thai Supreme Commander General Boonsrang Niumpradit a red-carpet welcome during his "goodwill" visit to the neighbouring country, media reports said Sunday.

The reports added to the sparse description of his trip by Gen Boonsrang. Burma routinely bars all Thai media except in special, heavily supervised circumstances.

The final line in that brief news article from the Bangkok Post reminds me of the name of the rock group, Bad Company: "Both Burma and Thailand are now run by military juntas. Burma has been under military rule since 1962."

Hope this wasn't a kind of "Happy you could join us" kind of honour, even though, they way things are moving around...the chances are pretty good.
