Estranged Myanmar couple in knife fight in Tak

A Myanmar couple who’d separated exchanged knife wounds at her rented house in Tak’s Mae Sot district early Tuesday morning after the man demanded they reconcile.

 

Police said the husband, 25, stabbed his 22-year-old wife and she responded by stabbing him.

 

Pol Captain Wanlop Roiyapa of Tambon Mae Pa precinct led officers and rescue workers to the scene on Soi Wat Sak Thong at about 5am and found the woman, identified only as Kanda, with knife wounds to the chest and back, but still conscious. 

 

The ex-husband, identified as A-phyo, was unconscious nearby with a stab wound to the stomach. A single 50cm-long knife lay on the floor.

 

Kanda told police they had separated four or five months earlier because his jealousy led to frequent rows and she had resisted all of his appeals to reunite. 

 

She said he attacked her with a knife and she grabbed it from him and stabbed him back.
