Gen Prawit says Saturday demonstration won't drag on

BANGKOK, 3 May 2018 (NNT) - The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) says the planned demonstration by an activist group on May 5th will not drag on, adding there is no need to have any special measures in place.

Deputy Prime Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan indicated that no security measures would be needed to handle the planned demonstration this Saturday by a group of activists as it will probably be short.

Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha expressed his disagreement with the group, saying the government had already made it clear that the general election would be held next year.

Meanwhile, Secretary-General of the National Security Council Gen Wanlop Rugsanaoh said today that no activist or political groups are expected to join the Saturday rally. He also believes that the demonstration will be held within the confines of the law.

ISOC to support peace-keeping measure at upcoming street protests

BANGKOK, 3rd May 2018 (NNT) - The Internal Security Operations Command has confirmed its support for the peace-keeping measures planned for the upcoming street protest in Bangkok.

Ahead of the planned rallies by pro-election activists on May 4th, spokesman of the Internal Security Operations Command Maj. Gen. Peerawat Sangthong said on Wednesday that the rally sites are most likely going to be areas under the jurisdiction of the police.

Accordingly, the ISOC will only be monitoring developments and standing ready to intervne, if needed.

Maj. Gen. Peerawat called on all protesters to abide by the law and to be careful when it comes to shared news and information, which may be distorted.

He also urged protest leaders to make sure their followers are taken care of and that any outsiders aren't able to cause trouble at the rallies.

The ISOC spokesman went on to say that officers have, nevertheless, prepared measures to deal with any undesirable situations while noting that intelligence reports have shown no people from towns upcountry have been recruited to join the planned protests, as yet.

Individuals voicing their concerns about their culture and future lives, is not such a bad thing. Is It?

After all, individuals should have the right to disagree without fear of possible prosecution or persecution.

Freedom of speech should be considered as 'constructive criticism'

Today is Freedom of Press Day. Or as we call it in Thailand: "Yard Exercise" for non conformistic journalists.

Just like they made it clear there would be one in 2016, 2017 and 2018.

So very much unlike the investigation into his ‘watches’. Is that investigation over by the way? I genuinely don’t know.

A bling blinding statement from the now wide awake general.

By intervene, I hope they don't repeat 1976, 1992 and 2010.

Only distorted from his point of view I imagine.

His timing is always impeccable, he has enough time pieces to ensure it

Supposedly it is. At least until the public forget and it can be finally dropped.

Love how they call it "peace-keeping" measures. As in, the guardians of peace have already labeled the protestors as people seeking to disrupt "peace".

Why did I read the last word without the "r"?

Fetching my coat.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

'Gen Prawit says Saturday demonstration won't drag on'

And if it looks like it will, he's the perfect man to call "time" on them !

synchronize all watches!

Anyone has an idea where and what time this demonstrations probably take place?

I'm starting to think the Chinese have got it right with installing the same leader for the next 500 dynasties.

Is the absence of the word "February" significant I wonder?  Now It seems to be just "next year".

The General will be “watching” the demonstration closely like a “ticking” “time” bomb.

Looks like they even haven't figured out what the date is on Saturday.

I would have thought that Prawit's multi million Baht watches would have had a working day - date.

So the new tanks have arrived. :crying:

Doubtless Prayut will be banging on during his Friday-night bore in terms such as: 'What do you want? We have given freedom back to Thais. We have given happiness back to Thais. We have made you proud to be Thai. We are a nation with special freedom - not foreign freedom. We protect Thailand from bad men. What do you want? You want to return to a bad Prime Minister? You want crowds in the street to cause confusion? Bad people argue with a good government. Thailand has the best government. The foreign politicians understand Thailand and accept our government.  It is the duty of Thais to support this peaceful and loving government of good men - not make noise and chaos in the streets. Remember: I LOVE ALL THAIS!'

That should keep him busy for quite some time.

Now you know why the army has been investing in armoured cars - to ensure demonstrations don't drag on.  I don't know where the submarines fit in though.
