Glass & Aluminium

Can anyone recommend a company in central Pattaya  that can cut short my condo glass aluminium framed doors and throw them up outside in a frame on my balcony wall as Windows.

3 companies I've approached already.Don't seem to want the business. Should be about 10000 Baht worth of work for 1 day.  The balcony wall is wider so I'll need to purchase one new piece of glass. Also purchase the frame but use the old door frames cut short to be the window frames.

Cheers chaps and have a rippa month.

P.S

I've done one room before but the same company not wanting the work..

Will they want the job if you buy all new material?

I got someone coming Monday.  I estimate they are getting 7000, labour for two workers. Total 10500 baht job. That's more than enough salary and profit for the boss. Let's see if they turn up.

Not sure what specialised workers and companies are expecting these days for their minimum get out of bed to work fee.

I can see why they dont want to do it. Fiddling about with old installations is a lot more work and invariably a lot more hassle than fitting something entirely new. I speak from 30+ years experience of renovating old farmhouses in Europe.

What are their overheads? Do they have a secretary? AC in their office? Is that their own truck? There is not as much money in your job as you think. I'd say 50% is overhead and the labour is about 2000 Baht. So I reckon maybe 3500 profit?

A bit out of subject: I understand you want "increase" your unit by closing (enclosing/inclosing?) your balcony. Did you talk about that to your condo management? This is a modification of the outside aspect of the whole condo and is usually forbidden...

That's all taken care of.  Condo is an old one with a mish mash of window faces on outside. There is no real building management as they went bankrupt just after completing so the residents get together every year for a fighting session. No real management. Just a token juristic assigned. following whatever dreams of the day .  Condo Act sits in a dusty draw ignored.

Today is Monday. They should arrive in an hour. I'll let you guys know how it went.

Yeah. Always the hidden unconsidered costs. Guy from as simple a shop as you could imagine.  Main Cost for him would be a 900 baht piece of glass and the lengths of aluminium for frame. About 12m in length. Of course silicone, screws etc. He did try to stear me to buy new glass.  He wants to make more money,

I want to spend less.  Not a good match up. but, he's getting a more than fair deal, so as Jerry Seinfeld would say in a high comedic pitch.....No Tip!

They showed up this morning and have taken away glass doors for adjustment. The wheels are in motion.... I hope they come back.

One chap at my old condo collected all the fire hoses with brass fitings for repair and was given up front payment by juristic. He was never to be seen again. I'm sure they will come back.  After all I know where his shop is.

Enjoy your day everyone.

I'm sure the prices in your building reflect this reality.. That's why it's forbidden to alter the outside appearance in a condominium.

You get what you pay for. Building isn't the fanciest but rooms are 38sqm brilliant location 5000 baht annual fee.  Huge swimming pool. Start at 650,000 price tag. Freedom to alter room. Services are rarely interrupted And surprisingly there are porsches and benzes parked there.  You know what they say,  to ones own choose a mobile phone.
