Kampong Thom and Sandan district police raided a cockfighting ring belonging to the deputy provincial military police commander, arresting five gamblers in Tumring commune on Saturday. However, it remains unclear if Chhut Peareach, deputy provincial military police commander, will be questioned over the case.

 

District police chief Oung Maly said that his forces cooperated with those from the provincial police to crack down on the ring. “We already sent the gamblers to the provincial police,” he said yesterday. “I didn’t know there was a ring there before, but we got a complaint from villagers and investigated.”

 

Mr Maly said that he was not sure whether Mr Peareach will be questioned over his ties to the ring. “We don’t know if we will call him for questioning or not,” he said.
